No, the whole animal has to be destroyed, if anything get your mink coat now...like today!

Millions of mink have to die to save a few lives. Kind of sad

Sorry, worked in a pig slaughter house when I was younger. We had a destruction silo where pigs would go who were DOA or which died in the stables waiting to be slaughtered. So when thinking about these minks, I know they go to a place where they will be gassed and then go to destruction.

But I will update the OP.

Never heard anyone call a dead cow beef or a dead pig pork ffs , we just say dead cow or dead pig.

That was more to do with the French language than it to be more palatable.

He means when you buy meat, you don’t go to a supermarket and buy a dead pig chop. Meat is generally packaged for consumers to look as little like an animal as possible to feel less guilty and have little care for what pain has occurred for you to eat a bit of meat.

Destroyed is probably the right word anyway, if the furs and all are being incinerated you’d say that to make a distinction from them just being killed.

And do you mean that actually they would like to sell pork chops cut in the shape of a pig but they wont because it might upset people?

Maybe a pork chop doesnt look like a pig because it its is cut from a rib which doesnt look like a pig in the first place?

A technical drawing of a cow showing where a cut is from isn’t really the same as an actual photo of a cow or any other animal which you never get on meat packaging. I think everyone should be fully aware of where meat comes from and what that animal goes through for it to be nicely packaged for us but I think the reality is that many don’t and that’s helped by meat not really packaged to show consumers the actual animal.

Facking hell, all this talk, craving for a juicy steak now...

You can slaughter an animal and harvest it’s fur, insides and flesh. You can’t do that if you destroy an animal, as the animal is incinerated.

You’d suspect the latter will be the case, easiest way to try and get rid of that strain of the virus.
