While it is worrying people like Cummings having so much powers without ever being elected, it’s not really a new thing, just look at Bannon in the US or Campbell for Blair. Guess it’s like a manager being selected to manage a club but they’re free to bring in any coaches they want to assist.
Tbh I’ve not ever heard this rumour about Johnson’s gf having any influence over his decision making. Where’s that come from?

The UK has been a laughing stock since 2016.

You can blame the remainers for that. The hissy fit throwing from that is comparable to the current state of Trump supporters.

I love how Brexit is always the remainers fault.

Yeah, its terrible for people to have different opinions on one of the most complex political subjects in modern history that been handled very poorly and will affect the future of their country.
We also need to make sure we absolve the government for any blame for holding a binary choiced, advisory referendum on such a complex subject and using it to push populist and divisive propaganda. Much better to throw the blame at sections of the public who disagree with your opinion.

Yes, because the moaning is DEFINITELY the worst thing about Brexit.
They’re probably ‘whining’ about it because it was a terrible choice won on lies and one that the public have no say on how we go about it after brexit was chosen. We’re days away from leaving the EU and the government still haven’t got a clue what they’re doing.

A lot of the people who voted leave thought it was a vote to stop immigration. Patel's statement on freedom of movement this week will keep the knuckle draggers happy.
And we know that when Brexit turns out to be the mess most of us could see happening, the government will just blame it on Covid.

To be fair, they're consistent. Their Covid response has been as equally well thought out as withdrawal from Europe.
They’re probably ‘whining’ about it because it was a terrible choice won on lies and one that the public have no say on how we go about it after brexit was chosen.
....
Surely if the public messed it up in the first place ( and they probably did) they really shouldn’t be trusted to have a say on how we go about Brexit.
Saying that the public did have a big say in the last election. And we all know how that went.
I would have preferred we stay in the EU but life has to move on.

Life has moved on. The population has accepted we are leaving. That doesn't mean people cannot have concerns though and there are many reasons to have concerns at the moment.

RR, I was referring to Brits getting too caught up in laughing or criticising Trump to even notice what is going on in their own house. Maybe it serves as a distraction. But Brits do have a track record for calling Americans stupid, without looking at the stupidity here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do we? I didn't know that

Yes, like when Brits mocked Americans for electing Bush, yet elected his poodle for 3 terms. Then calling them stupid for electing Trump, and go and elect Bojo.
You would think they would focus on getting their own house in order first.
When the mess of Brexit becomes clear, you can be sure that very few people who voted for it, campaigned for it and delivered it will hold their hands up.
It’ll all be someone else’s fault.
