Is KDB even a midfielder? He is given a free role which is normally as close as possible to the forwards. He doesn't really have much defensive responsibilities or tracking back.
Its a bit like the ridicoulous Deli Alli comparisons to Gerrard and Lampard when he wasnt even playing in midfield.

No way come on, he was amazing for a couple of years. Only midfielder I ever saw dominate Yaya at his best.
Matic is bang average and has been for the vast majority of his career. A slightly better positioned Craig Gardener but without the goals.

i broadly agree with your general point, but tbf you did specify "at their best", so whether that means over a shortish period, or over, say, a whole season, he probably hasn't reached the heights of some of the others.
fun fact: stripping out penalties, pogba has a geater goal contribution (goals + assists) per 90 minutes in the PL than either gerrard or yaya toure.

These sorts of lists are always impossible because not only are many of the players different in style but also position and role within the team.
Personally I look at the list and think 'who was the best all-rounder?', and I'd have to (reluctantly!) concede that it's probably Gerrard. He had an excellent range of passing, could score worldies, could drive with the ball, get box to box, play deeper, further forward, or wide, could tackle... He wasn't as tidy or cute in possession as Scholes, Cesc, Silva or even Lampard, but he had that extra dynamism & running power to compensate.
KDB, Scholes & possibly Toure as all rounders aren't far behind Gerrard at all.
