Bale is the better player but Lucas works back well and better in the style we will play.

It's a tough one because Lucas is fresh and also works harder than Bale. But he's probably a better and more impactful sub with his extra pace late in the game.

Bale is quality but yet to hit the heights we know he can. Jose will not want to concede anything early so might prefer a harder working option like Lucas of even Lamela.

For me there is no bad choice, which is a great thing to be able to say.

The key choice to be had is who plays CM alongside PEH. If it is Sisokko then i will hold little hope of us effectively retaining the ball and counter attacking.

Lucas (or Lamela) if the selection is based on merit, Bale if it's based on reputation.

He Could pull a weird one and play lo celso AMR..gives us 4 man midfield / diamond to sure up through balls and force City wide to cross.

Bale, whilst a real asset to the team, is not ideal for this game.

We all know City will enjoy around 70% possession, and to get a result we need players who can get behind the ball, chase back and defend, tackle and block anything that comes near our area.

Lucas is better at this than Bale. Simple as.

Wouldn’t be a bad set up - but Jose doesn’t play like that
