As always I agree with saint Pat. United won three league titles in a row twice during the PL era.
This Liverpool side just won the first title in 30 YEARS ffs!!!
Why are people so quick to put them up there amongst the all-time PL best teams?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's fine but the last time they won the league they were nowhere near Liverpool's current quality, so it's a bit of a silly criteria he's invented.

As of right now though, UTD are lurking about...
just have to beat you and City, and get absolute revenge on Spurs and well?...
You never know

This has a "Come back when you've got 18" feel about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does a bit. He may regret those words, sadly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LMAO, there is 0% chance this Liverpool team win three in a row, get real.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Won it last season, one point away from it the previous season, favourites and likely to win it this season. There's a very good chance it could be three in a row. 0% chance
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because getting two in a row is alraedy unlikely enough, three in a row is impossible.

Unlikely? What's unlikely about it. Best team in the league, current champions, favourites, in a great position having negotiated some tough fixtures with an easy run to come.

Yeah I think a team who wins the CL and the league, in two seasons must already be a great team, without having to forget about one of them and win the other another two times.

But then Evra never was the brightest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This, when we get to 3 in a row I'm sure there will be something else we have to do to be considered a great side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Win THE treble maybe?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the treble is so last century tbf, its gotta be about the quad now surely

How many teams have won back to back titles in pl histroy? How good were those teams compared to this current Liverpool team

There you go. That's why its extremely unlikely if not impossible for liverpool to win back to back and definitely impossible for liverpool to win three in a row.

I find the rivalry/bitterness pretty lame and tedious.

This is a great Liverpool team. There’s no doubt about that. Back to back CL finals, a league win and a second placed league finish that in any other season wins the league at a canter. Looking strong again this season.

tbf the OP is an idiot and not a utd fan.

Most of the utd folk on here are pretty sound.

This.

Despite the obvious rivalry, I've had some of the best footballs discussions on this site with Utd fans.

Turning base metals in diamond is impossible. Winning football matches is not.

I'm not saying it's literally impossible. i'm saying that the probability of it happening is so small it's effectively impossible.

'I will call them a great team when they win THREE titles in a row!' | Patrice Evra on Liverpool"

Basically saying they'll certainly win 2, which they should given the weird year and their levels of consistency.

It depends how a "great" team is defined.

I wouldn't put this Liverpool in the bracket of Utd/ Chelsea from 06-10, or Utd of 99. If they keep this up for a couple more years though it'll be safe to say they're the best of their generation.

Pretty much this, they deserve the credit they have been great. And if they keep going who knows maybe the greatest.

I don’t think you can say a team that has won the CL & PL in 2 seasons is not great.

They do not to win the league this season to get into the best ever PLAY team convo imo.

posted on 26/11/20

The Chelsea team under Jose were a great team but managed just two!

Dropped a grand total of 32 points in the last two seasons, won the CL and reached the final the season before.

Won the league with a gap of 18 points to a great city team and about 35 points from the rest.

It's obviously a great team.

posted on 26/11/20

Pretty daft criteria given it's only happened 3 times since WWII.

Just in the PL era alone that would mean you're discounting Wenger's Arsenal, Mourinho's Chelsea, and Pep's City as great teams.

Liverpool are a quality side during a weak period for the Prem with United, Arsenal, Chelsea, even City below the standards expected.

Those sides all played during a period when Liverpool amongst some of the ones you mentioned were below the standards expected.
