He hasn't actually played as As a CF before Zlatan or Lukaku came in. He was playing LWF before and during their time. He has only played CF when he initially arrived for a few games before being shifted to the left and then last season.
I was saying all summer we needed a proper number 9 but you kept banging on about right-wingers.

Why do you think that was?
I’d argue that last season he was better at CF than Lukaku ever was for us other than his 1st 10 games.
Has had a really poor start to the season but a bit premature to be writing him off don't you think...
He can play in multiple positions, so it's not really a big deal... Every club does need more than one specialist CF though

yep, this "will never be good enough" argument is odd, last season he was very good as a 9, 17 goals, 7 assists, and probably our best player post-lockdown.
he's not, and probably never will be, a "classic" no.9, but don't understand why a good player in bad form is so readily written off completely (see also rashford, greenwood, pogba etc).

Rashford broke through in his first season here. Jose signed both Zlatan and Lukaku. He didn't rate Martial and dropped him for Sanchez.
Now, whether you rate him as a CF or not, what you wrote isn't true. It takes away from the argument you're trying to make.

What top, top cf should we get? People say this like it’s simple, then wonder why we had to sign a 33 year old Cavani.

apparently, having failed to convince haaland to join us instead of dortmund, we're now going to beat every top club in europe to his signature.

No, not premature at all. He had his chances and it didn’t work out for him. We should buy haaland or similar striker.

I think Tony is a good CF who will only get better. He does have the potential to be top class - there is no denying he has the ability.
Tbf I’d still say we need a nailed down top player for our RW more than a CF.
Would provide us with more balance and consistency in selection / tactics etc.

even in the PL, given age and cost etc, there's only kane you'd definitely take over martial, we're not paying £60m+ for late-period aguero or aubameyang.
