He played a bit like Jane today 😉

Swap Sissoko out for Ndombele and I think that lineup is worth a go. Bale or GLC behind Jane would give us a bit more guile going forward.

Don't take this wrong but I just don't see Bale playing anything more than a bit part this season.

His legs are gone and other than a few descent crosses and a goal against Brighton he has not really done much.

I hope wrong and hee ups it but at the moment that 15 mill could have been spent some where else.

To be fair I missed that part. No chance! Bale's done nothing to suggest he should be starting against the g00ns.

But neither has Bergwijn or Lucas. I don’t think either have been great in the league games they have started. Bale come on and scored the winner v Brighton, so clearly still has match winning quality. Bale starts for me with Kane and Son, it’s as simple as that. If his form drops or is unfit, others get their chance.

Bale over Bergwijn everyday of the week. I see nothing in Bergwijn to see that he starts over any player. He runs about, but not a lot else. I would have Moura over him as well.

Bergwijn has yet to convince me he has the same fitness levels as the regulars.
Jose should have brought on Lucas much earlier.

Throwing Bale in there is something Jose won't do for a while after the debacle of West Ham.

Hello folks. While I am not going to make any secret of my dislike for Mourinho and am in two minds as regards my attitude towards Bale, I think that what comes next is a pretty objective appraisal of the situation.

First up, bear in mind that Mourinho, in whom you have both deposited so much faith, has not only seen Bale in competitive action, but sees him too on the training ground every day.

On top of that, he knows exactly what he wants to see from each of his players on the pitch and the roles he expects them to perform.

Thus far it's quite obvious that the sum of all those things has led to Bale not having enjoyed a single minute in either of the two big games you've just played. That doesn't mean that he views Bale as useless, I'm completely sure he doesn't, but that there are situations in which he's worth the risk and others where he's not.

I disagree with Eddie in that I think that 15M can be money well spent for an impact sub of the quality and proven match-winning capability, and that if he can convert four or five draws into wins or defeats into draw by the end of the season, then it's a pretty decent return, especially if those spell the difference between achieving your goals - whether that means a trophy or even a top-4 finish if it comes down to that.

As for Bale starting against Arsenal, I actually think that it might be a risk worth taking given how little Arsenal seem to be up to at the moment and the fact that Bale just as any other player needs game time. The thing is that no matter how much of a threat Chelsea might be, Arsenal are still your biggest derby rivals. It's the kind of game where there's more than just the 3 points at stake, so outside of matches against more direct rivals in the table, is the kind of match where you'd least want to give your opponent the chance of growing into the game.
