It’s daft that second yellows can’t be reviewed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Said that on the main thread too!

It does open a can of worms though in that it won’t be long after that people will start saying soon afterwards to review first yellow offences too. It does feel wrong that they allow a clear and obvious error which creates that level of impact to stand though.

I asked on the match thread but does anyone think we don't concede the second if De Gea goes for the ball with his hands and body? Maybe I'm being really harsh but I think he could have been a little braver there.

The issue with the Fred one was that it was a contentious decision in the first place and the referee would have known at half time at the very least. He was always going to be walking a tightrope in the second half, more so than just a normal yellow card. That and it was a battle in midfield, thought Mctominay was lucky not to be on a yellow by the end of the first half too tbh.

I do get why he would have wanted to keep him on though. Are

Hi melts.

I thought it was a questionable decision, but not a terrible one.

Fred was the player we most needed out there in the midfield today. It was something of a gamble keeping him on, but not a ridiculous one.

Hi rosso mate, how are you?

Yes I said the same on the main live thread, personally I thought it was yellow on first look. It’s one of those strange ones that actually looks worse in real time than in slo mo though and I’d be interested to know if the ref saw both on the pitch side monitor.

I would have kept him on too tbh, the only thing I would have done was made a change sooner after Tuchel did but ultimately, like I said earlier, the game should have been wrapped up by then anyway.

I’m good mate, thanks. Hope all is well with you and the family.

It’s a funny (even funnier) old game the authorities have managed to ‘design’ now isn’t it, with yellow card offences resulting in sendings off arbitrarily unavailable for review when, for example, cases of mistaken identity by the ref can be?

I thought Fred should have been sent off first half, but then if the ref looks at the tackle resulting in the second booking pitchside (which he obviously can’t do) then there’s no way he hands out a second yellow IMO.

All good thanks mate. Can’t wait for this year to be over!

Agree with all of that, it really is a mess at the mo. I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a Luddite with VAR and rather they cut down on replays and over analysis. Never going to happen now though.

I have found I’m enjoying championship games without it even more nowadays!

Ole has to take the L on this. All the criticism.
I dunno why Scholes is talking about hindsight when Everyman and their dog could see Fred needed to be hooked.
Count herself lucky Fred is still there at 65 mins.
Tucal addressed the danger and took off his guy who was on a yellow. Ole doesn’t do anything.
Ok we conceded another soft goal. The play is dead, NOW make the change. Nothing.
Now Fred is sent off. You’re screwed.
And the subs he does make becomes a free-for-all.

This loss hurts, because they played very well for the majority of the game. I don’t understand Ole game management here.
And this gives weight to all the naysayers, calling him a PE teacher. I can’t defend him tonight.
Martial... he needs a slap upside the head.
Let himself down badly.
Overall, I’m still confident we can go through, doing it the UTD way. The hard way. Purely cos we played very well.

Was it Maguire who just fell over for their third goal, leaving Neymar about 50 miles of space in all directions for an easy open goal tap in?

Fk me, we need to get rid of that oil tanker.
