Sorry guys but I cannot believe people are still not happy with where we are.

Like Sandy, I am old enough to have actually experienced most of the 60 years of waiting to get near a title, and the 30 years with only two trophies to show for it.

At this moment I for one am happy to see us at the top, getting 3 points in games that we have consistently thrown away for too many years.

I mean do we really want to go back to the "nice to watch, but always blow it" football ??

Say what you like its torrid to watch, but Jose has won 589, drawn 186 and lost 134 in his 909 games as manager
--------------------------------------------------

Tbf that's a 64% win ratio which is bloody good when spanning a whole career

Some of the comments on this forum does make one question the sanity of people for sure.

Firstly "some people would rather see Spurs play nice football and lose" what true Spurs fan ever wants to see us lose? NONE OF THEM FFS

Jose is king etc and can do no wrong. At the END of the season you may be right but so far you are guessing.

Highlighting how wonderful Jose is because we have played some top teams and done ok. I seem to remember at the end of the first season we got into the CL we were never going to get there because we had chelsea to play, woolwich and city all top teams. Well we won all those games so Harry must also be a genius.

Every Spurs fan in the world is happy at where we are in the league at the moment lets get that straight. The fact that some of us dont like watching us put 10 men behind the ball against the likes of West Brom and Burnley makes it that we would rather see Spurs lose!!!!!

You really could not make it up

One one hand the same posters on here tell us that we probably have the best squad in the prem at the moment and in the next breath they tell us that sitting in our own half for 80 minutes out of 90 is the only way we can play and win something.

A bit strange when we have the best squad in the prem.

They then say "look what happened against West Ham" never thinking for one second that the reason it happened was because we tried to sit in our half for 45 minutes and let them have the ball

None of us are upset at the results, none of us want to be lower down the league and play attractive football but some of us believe that with the players we have we are capable of playing in a bit more adventourus manner.

As a final comment I ask one question. As we only seem to want to attack for 45 minutes, get a 2-0 lead and sit on it why dont we sub Kane and Son at half-time when we are 2-0 up rather than risk further injury?

If you are happy to play that way to me its an ideal solution to protect the most deadly strike force on the planet.

Spot on post

Kane is a bloody useful CB though. Ridiculous how many defensive headers he wins

I don't think any of us are unhappy with where we are right now, just unhappy with elements of our approach in certain games, that is all.

I would like to see us showcase a more expansive style and win handsomely in a game vs a 'lesser' side, this style really doesn't work as well in those games clearly

i just think it's a shame that West Ham game panned out the way it did. I'm sure in the back of Mourinho's mind he thinks back to that when he decides to now bring Davies on.

And I said I was happy didn't I? Nothing wrong with constructive criticism though. We won 2-0 but it wasn't a perfect performance as I was left wanting more from the second half. Unfortunately this has crept into a few of our games, and if this had been a one off I probably wouldn't be complaining at all.

spurtle dont lie please.

Everybody knows you would rather have seen us win 3-0 and be bottom of the league.

You hate jose winning and you hope we lose every game we ever play again until poch comes back.

you turn the league table upside down so that you prefer the look of it

Damned idiots, we are not happy? Really? I can walk into work tomorrow and give the gooners mega stick, I am so gutted its untrue

spurtle there is no room in this forum for

A. Constructive criticism

or

B. An opinion that does not include us winning the league easily.

Anything other than that means you are not a true Spurs fan and you know it

Jose explains his tactics very well in the interview. Basically, yes we could have attacked more in the 2nd half, but why would we? We were 2-0 up.

and dont mention that jose has won exactly the same amount of trophies as Poch so far, ok?

If you dare do that then I am afraid I wont be able to save you

I don't get why some Spurs fans are moaning, you are top of the league and winning and this isn't with Jose's team.

The main thing is all you want to see is progress and you are getting that. I'm a Rangers fan and Gerrard came in with a team that wasn't his, started adding to it season on season, but it's taken 3 seasons for him to get his squad together and it's still not finished. And that's for the SPL and the Europa League, not the EPL, but he's gotten time, as we have seen progress year on year and that's all you can ask for.

I don't believe in giving managers time when you don't see progress. I'd put Ole at United in with that. As long as a manager has his own style and you can see results improving that's all that matters. Jose will add 1 or 2 players in each window. And you can then play a more entertaining expansive game, but still with that style of his. It wins trophies and I have no doubt he will win stuff at Spurs.

Son is amazing btw. I'll be surprised if Real or Barca don't come in for him soon.

I will add that if we reach the silly league cup final and beat northampton 1-0 on penalties after they have 6 men sent off in the first half of normal time I dont want to hear any "constructive criticism" as long as we win a trophy it just does not matter, are we clear on this?

Remember its hard to play against 5 men

Not all of us are moaning mate trust me. Just the ones who have been dead against Jose from the start. We are heading in the right direction under Jose, any normal person can see that.

He must mean the ones that said the football would be dour, defensive and boring.

I wonder what on earth would have made them think that.

I'll be right with you when the players look bored. Right now they seem ready to run through walls for Jose.

If you can't be happy after a NLD and finishing another weekend topping the league you're doing it wrong.

Not harsh at all it's perfectly right to praise the defensive organisation and critisize the style of football on offer. Mourinho deserves praise for the meaness of the back 6 opposition teams are not enjoying facing us which is good but it's coming at a heavy price.
The question I would ask is what is an acceptable league position if we don't win the league playing this way? 2nd 3rd 4th? We were already a serial top 4 team playing good football with 2 title pushes so I would consider that a failure from one of the highest paid managers in world football. The journey to success or failure is important that's what makes the game unique to most if not all other sports.
One thing's for certain this manager has split the fan base.

Great post

It's not just about the journey with Mourinho being tedious sometimes (depending on what you like about football), it's that you know how it's gunna end so you want to feel like the price of navigating a messy aftermath was worth it! Considering Spurs were in as good a position as they've been in ages when he took over, in terms of recognition as serious players, what is an acceptable price? One cup? Two cups? Or does it have to be the league title?

And part of the deal for Mourinho these days is the guarantee of a divided fanbase. Unless he drops down the managerial ladder I think that'll stick with him the rest of his career, the cult of Jose is still strong but no longer an all encompassing thing.

You were in the Champions League Final less than six months before he got the job

I'll list a few more reasons why if you really want, but that should be sufficient.

No point. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Cheers anyway.
