It is part of the issue, but not the whole.

Regardless the amount of big chances Werner has missed is in indismissible.

We did have injuries that meant we basically had no other option other than to play Werner wide. I agree that we should have had, at the least, a plan B narrow formation to accommodate Werner but also think it’s perfectly reasonable to have carried in with the 4-3-3 given that our performances, result and balance for about 10 games improved in that formation.

Most werners chances have been in the box/middle and he’s missed some absolute sitters. Nothing to do with being a wide forward. If anything that’s creating more space for him.

Jose would've had him performing like Kane this season.

He's missing chances and playing badly now because his confidence has been ruined by playing as a winger and not getting as many chances to score goals.

In the short term (those 10 games) it was to our benefit, but in the long term that 4-3-3 isn't a system that can get the most out of Werner (or Havertz) and that's the more important thing.

He’s 17th for most shoots on goal in the league. And not one has been outside the box. He’s got loads of chances and is performing badly compared to expected goals.

He’s 10th for most shots,
9th for most shots on target.
17th for shots per game.

Him and Chris wood are expected an extra 2.73 goals (that’s generous imo). That’s the worst of any forward in the league

He is also amongst the highest in the league for big chances missed

Because his confidence is shot! We play him out wide in a position he hates (look at his body language) and as a result when he gets chances he isn't as composed as he was at the start of the season.

This player has been badly mismanaged by the manager. I feel sorry for him because I know he didn't sign for Chelsea to be played out of position.

So when he was scoring from the same position earlier in the season. What was the reason for that?
There’s lots to blame Lampard for this year, but this isn’t one of them. Werner has just been awful.

His goalscoring run this season for Chelsea has been 0 goals in his first 4 pl games, then 4 in 4 and then 0 in 7. And he was playing well in those first 4 pl games as well. In the CL its 3 in 6 but two penalties.

he just isn't playing in the correct position and Lampard may be ruining his Chelsea career by playing him out of position. The only way he can get out of this rut is if Lampard stops playing him there and even if that means not starting him at all, it's better than killing his confidence game by game.

So you reckon he played wel for 8 games on the left?

Yeah he was playing well but he wasn't playing as well as he can at his best. We haven't seen him at his best for Chelsea at all. Because we don't play him in the right position.

Werner was most effective for RB playing on the wing. The OP have absolute no clue and looking for excuse of a serious shiiiiit performances.

He simply not adapted to the PL firstly and secondly Lampard.....there is a real problem.
