Premier League at threat..?

I think there is every chance there will be a "circuit breaker". The knock effect onto club European football and then Euro 20 will be interesting.

posted on 29/12/20

Would be absolutely crap if Euro 20 is postponed again.

This. You would think with he sheer amount of tests the league has available they would be able to bring any outbreak under control within say 2 weeks if they were to stop play and teams were locked down in their bubbles

This is kind of a sensationalist headline from Sky

Back in early November there were 16 positive results from far fewer tests.

International tournaments would be a bigger risk. But you would think the vaccines will rescue them in time

Didn’t they find out recently that 3 in 10 of the rapid tests used were inaccurate and missing cases?

Also, how secure are these bubbles? Do they not see their wives who are socializing? Do we stop them going on pointless international friendlies? Attending their brothers weddings when on international duty in a ‘bubble’?

WHO announced yesterday that the vaccines available will not stop the pandemic and that restrictions should stay in place until we have developed herd immunity....

Why?

Sky and Scam City trying to manipulate the points being given to Everton because they were missing a few £50m players.

More curious how they’d do that, summer 22 euro tournament, PL for a couple months then Qatar World Cup in winter 22!?!

This ^

Players were put at risk with quite a few contracting the virus for the last set of glorified international friendlies

posted on 29/12/20

The Euros should have remained scrapped. It is something I would imagine most people could live without.

Obviously there are a few special cases around that just must have the Euros or their lives will be incomplete.

I will be disappointed if the Euros are scrapped, as Wales don’t get to compete in majors tournaments too often.

Just move the winter break forward.

SSN said that 18 players have it, the highest number yet. Only the third time that the figure has been over 10. They also said that the total number of positive cases overall is 130 out of 26,000. That's 0.5%, so barely worth worrying about imo

Seems very unlikely they would suspend the season again IMO. Things would have to get really bad on the covid front.

posted on 29/12/20

We don’t need another paused season, we all know what happened the last two times the league got interrupted....

1945, 2020....champions* after the restart all came from one city

Babyen

Apologies. I should have added the Welsh fans.

And the Scots fans VC. Although I wouldn't be against postponing them until fans can attend properly. I know that's what made Euro 2016 for the Wales fans. It'd be a bit crap watching it from home.

I think a lot of people think the vaccine process will be complete by summer but it won't even be close. When you look at the numbers isn't it like 600,000 a week being the target? So ten weeks is 6 million. That would be 100 weeks for the entire population, that's like two years.

It isn't about the fans though is it, it never has been. Millions upon millions is invested in such tournaments, maybe even billions, nobody is walking away from that.
