Dubai seems to be the only place you can travel to atm without proof of a covid test or the need to self isolate when you return.

You can travel to many African countries now. Personally wouldn't travel anywhere in the current situation, just not worth the hastle.

Had a load of plans last year but only managed to get to India and Nepal via Dubai/Qatar prior to all the Covid shat starting up. Africa was the main goal for the latter part of the year.

Off the beaten path i would say go to the Stans in central Asia, amazing part of the world.

And trust me, that is coming from someone who has travelled a ridiculous amount and hates having his wings clipped this way

We’d booked to go to Luca in Italy last august as we went a few years back and it is spectacular, when things are back to normal we’re going back and I can’t wait to sit outside a lovely restaurant and eat delicious food and sink a few peronis

Travel's a bit of a trade off at the moment.

Physical Health v Mental Health.

There’s so much of the UK I really want to explore so hopefully I’ll get a chance this year.

I’ve actually seen a lot of what I wanted to see abroad now. India, Russia, South Africa, New York, Las Vegas and a fair bit of Europe. I’d actually quite like to see more of Ireland when things are a bit easier.

About the question in the OP regarding “off the beaten track”: visit Russia. Most interesting travel experience I’ve had.

I've been to Moscow and St Petersburg, really fancy seeing some of the old USSR like the Causcases and the 'Stans'.

Had 3 trips booked. Got money back pretty quickly from 2 because I booked direct with the airline. Still waiting for some from the other which was booked though an agent.

Yeah probably the pick given the legendary cities on the silk road but each have something to offer. Kyrgyzstan is stunningly beautiful. Went on a birding expedition in Kazakhstan and walking in miles and miles of wild marijuana is a bizarre experience

Agree with you on Russia, fascinating place. Really want to go back again as the last visit was only short to St Pete and Moscow. Managed to visit 11 of the 15 former Soviet republics so far

I’d much prefer the Italian lakes over NYC, it just doesn’t appeal to me.

Yep.. effectively offering oneself up as a vector to communicate the disease further afield.
