and, bamford has 10 in 17 for us this year, most goals from open play in the league and a totally vital cog in our system, you dont drop him because of that

Too easy to make knee jerk reactions and call for changes like that. Bamford has been brilliant this season and will rightly stay in the no 9 position. If Rodrigo was tearing it up and looking a bit sharper there would be a stronger case but he isn't.

Suspension/injury/cups etc at some stage might force the change and then we'll see but not at the moment.

As for Pabs you have a point on that one.

As Jenkins is KP's heir apparent and Kalvin is out of the Brighton game, I would love to see Bielsa give him a start against Crawley, pretty sure he will play Phillips again though which personally I think would be a mistake.

If I am honest I have tried to figure out the dilemma we have with Rodrigo and Bamford

On one hand we have a 29 year old 30m international number 9 who is playing as a 10 but is clearly a striker

On the other you have Bamford whose had many ups and downs with us but to be honest I don’t see how you drop him when he’s done so well this season...Even to get Rodrigo up top

The answer is maybe to play Rodrigo up front against Crawley and have Bamford on the bench. He’s due a rest anyway as he works his balls off for the team.

I wouldn’t risk Pablo. Maybe let Roberts play in that hole and give Shacks a start too.

Costa to start with Poveda on the opposite side.

I actually do see a benefit of playing rod in the 9 role next game.

while he does play it for spain, he hasnt played it for us, and were bamford to be injured he would be the player to go there so why not get him more use to playing that role with the players in our team.

also, how amazing is it to be able to say, yeah, its only crawley, why not give the spain number 9 a run out...

Would be what I'd go with against Crawley.

I personally would pick a strong side as we have a weeks rest in between Crawley and Brighton. And Brighton have a midweek fixture before they play us.
Even though we lost to Arsenal away last year we picked a strong side and played well and were unlucky and got a lot of praise and respect.
When we pick squad type lineups to supposedly rest players we have lost and lost poorly to the likes of QPR
Newport, Sutton, Rochdale and Histon to name just a few of our embarrassing exits in recent times.

Does Philips miss the Brighton game? Thats what i heard. If so might aswell play him in the cup game.

Apparently the rules have changed so Philips one game ban is competition based so he misses next premier league game versus Brighton.

It’s a really unnecessary yellow the more you think about it. Brighton is a game that really counts and we’re already in a position where those defensive positions are down the to bare minimums

Id expect to see Geldhart and Greenwood at some stage for Pablo and Rodrigo but like a few have said it would be good to see Rodrigo up top for once. Not sure id want to risk a back four of youngsters.
