Where we go depends on how long Bielsa stays for me. Need him around long enough to build an overall squad, which for me takes 2 more summers I reckon. Before that, with a different coach & style, I’m not convinced we’re ready as a team or a club. Love the way the team plays & how as a club we’ve progressed, although some of the media/pundit fawning I’m not totally comfortable with.
Jose and Bielsa may have met 5 times, but each time Jose had the most expensive set of players.
Until we can build a squad of Son's, Kanes, Bales etc. we will struggle to break into the top 6. That's not an overnight thing - we may well spend some years aiming for that. Certainly it's likely to take longer than Bielsa is likely to be at Leeds sadly.
As long as we're in the Prem we should be able to improve our squad, but we mustn't lose sight of the main aim - don't get relegated. If Bielsa's entertaining, swashbuckling football can achieve that, then keep it coming!

Even as Man utd fan, I find it hard not to like a team like Leeds at the moment. I like Bielsa, especially after the Aston villa incident in Championship, class manager
I would rather see Leeds a little less "entertaining" in games like this, and get something from the game.
It's tiring to listen to pundits praising Leeds all the time, tbh.
Points is all that matters really. And getting to at least that 40 points mark. Having said that, I am glad we don't play anti-football, like spurs are known for now, but sometimes you just need to be realistic about the approach

To be fair, with regards being able to afford a squad of Kane’s, Son’s and Bales, Bale is on loan and didn’t play today, Son cost £20m and Kane came through the academy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes this ^ and therefore, given time and trust, and faith with Bielsa, Leeds could build a team to aim for European qualifications in due time.
Some of your fans need to come down.
As long as Leeds can stay in PL, Bielsa will be able to build a good team capable to get into top 6.

Completely agree, something changed for me in last week, just tired of every single comment being about great to watch, its become slightly patronising.
If we can secure Bielsa for next season and providing we stay up of course then I would expect our u23 stars will develop well into the first team and with the mega cash guaranteed from the subscription TV channels even if its slightly less due to covid I believe we will sign a couple more quality players that will establish us in this division.
Bielsa's successor is not going to be as swashbuckling but I trust it will be someone along the lines of Eddie Howe or Ralph Hassenhuttl who I think both advocate attractive attacking football.
We don’t really need to be going anywhere, just stay as we are. We are (largely) beating the teams that we should be completing against to be an established mid table team and losing against top teams who have either invested heavily or have a different class of quality with established players.
I would be happy with a mid table finish for the next 3 season and improve the squad slowly. Not sure what people are expecting. We been waiting for 16 for this and now we are here and people are quickly jumping to the next panic-button strategy - why???
I expect us to get 1-2 hammerings (Man U game) this season and a few lessons (today’s game)..... controlling my expectations here
We have two aims this season, to keep Bielsa for at least another year and to stay in the Premier League.
I honestly believe that we can attract top quality players playing this system and with a few tweaks we will comfortably become a top ten side.
I'm enjoying the plaudits while accepting the criticism and am really optimistic about the future.
The reality is Jose and Bielsa have met each other about 5 times now and Jose wins every time.
How do you change this more in our favour?

Great watching you going forward - love the forward fluidity - top class
Defence is your downfall... You're dropping so many points for not using the given safe initiatives.
Top clubs raise their game against you although you are wide open than most clubs especially the ones who's strategy is parking the bus. To be fair you haven't defended well v Pool, LCFC, Chelsea & United, today you also made it easy for opposition with sloppy possession as they capitalized on constant errors. First goal is a GK error - 2nd goal you're wide open...3rd goal was from yet another corner where you had four defenders challenging Alderweireld allowing him to get a clear header on target, poor defending!

Jose spent 99 mill this summer
We spent 96 mill this summer
As someone on here pointed out, we’re solid in midfield but very poor at either end. As hard as Bamf works, he still needs too many chances to put one away. At the back we’re shambolic and for all our supposed man-to-man marking, we do anything but. Considering we all know where our weaknesses lie, we’re not learning lessons - until we do we’ll continue to receive hammerings from the big boys.
We may have spent 96 million this year which is comparable to what Spurs have spent this year but over the last 5 years is where the imbalance is as our squad value is at least a fifth or even more of Spurs Chelsea Man Utd Liverpool Arsenal and City.
Despite this we are giving a good account of ourselves and should enjoy the praise even if it seems patronising at times its better than those days when we were losing to Hereford and Colchester.

Completely agree.
I think we have to accept that Bielsa is not going to change much in terms of tactics, so its the players that need upgrading and fans being happy with never quite winning anything but the football looks great at times!
A bit obvious! We get better players to play under Bielsa and we become a better team.
What he’s done with these lads is amazing but remember it’s not all about him. The players take a lot of credit for the work they put in and the belief they have in his methods.
We ain’t looking to win anything this season. We aim to stay up, consolidate and move up a gear next season with a few additions.
Anyone who expects miracles this season is deluded.
From Lorra: " Considering we all know where our weaknesses lie, we’re not learning lessons"
That is all down to two things. Bielsa, but more, our players abilities.
Stay up, get some quality in both ends, and we'll be competing
Not sure anything is obvious with only a few months left of Bielsa contract, complete uncertainty about fans return and finances.
In an ideal world we know we have Bielsa fir 3 more years, normal times with more sustainable finances but these are obviously not normal times.
With Bielsa’s lack of desire to rotate we don’t really see the U23s come through and with never seeing him at a club for long enough we don’t know if that is his aim or just has U23 on bench and poveda coming on because he just has no other senior players.

True Jonty, but they’ve spent plenty in the previous few seasons giving them the squad they now have. Top 6 have quality that is 75% purchased and the reminder being home-grown / academy. If Bielsa is to stay for the next 2/3 years and we spend an average of 100-150m per year on transfers (which is what the top 6 do) then we are comparing apples with apples. Yes, we need to bring in quality, which is why I also feel some of us (myself included) are being too critical of the team. They are perhaps playing to the limit of their abilities and achieving better results than we should reasonably expect. We should know now that Bielsa and contracts are not that important as far as he’s concerned. In pretty sure the club will be working on one and offer it at the right time for everyone.
The rest is unavoidable and we are all in the same boat really. Those clubs with huge income streams are probably suffering just as much as those with less income. They have massive overheads to service.
The club appears to be in good hands and hopefully things will improve Covid wise once the vaccine kicks in.
I can’t see the club talking contracts with MB until we are safe. That would be the time to look at where we are going and what he wants to achieve at the club. If we do go down then I can’t see him staying.

Leeds have been back in the PL for 5 minutes. Your playing ( and losing to ) teams with many more years experience. .
Whilst we definitely do need to improve the squad more, let's not be unfair to these players and their potential. We will definitely make signings but these guys can go further.
Go back 2 years and imagine someone telling you that Bamford would have 10 goals in 16 games, Alioski would be holding his own as a PL left back, Phillips would be a shoe-in for the Euros and Ayling would be playing at centreback and getting plaudits.
Who's to say they can't keep getting better?
There's a core group in the squad who have got better year on year under Bielsa. Maybe some will drop away as we get in more quality but some will keep improving to match the standard we play at.
