Fair point and he would be a massive loss but he hasn’t played well for a few weeks now and we’ve continued to win.
We have more about us these days.
This was always important to our success under Ole. We had a good way of playing against the big sides but struggled against those who sat back.
If you can beat the 13-14 teams below the better sides, you'll always be there abouts come May.
We'd usually win the league with SAF because of our record against the lesser teams. Against the other top clubs of those times we'd be fairly even against them, maybe they'd even have a better record against the top team than we did, but we'd so often win the league and finish ahead of our rivals because we would always beat the bottom 14 or so teams.
Liverpool can beat us on the weekend, and that is fine, as long we beat the Burnleys, Fulhams, & West Hams of this league *consistently* then we'll be right up in the race

You haven't been watching us then. He's been giving the ball away in good positions time after time and I'm sure somebody else could score a penalty.
He's a top player, I think we'd miss his leadership and bravery on the ball as much as anything.
Hopefully Pogba can continue to contribute and lessen the burden on Bruno.

I still would have liked Van de Beek to have played more than he has. If Bruno does get an injury or something and we have to play Van de Beek, he'll still be coming in as a virtually new signing.

The ten teams that would be expected to finish 11-20th have 60 points available from the games against them. If you can pick up 55+ it makes dropping points against top 6 less damaging.
One of the reasons Arsenal got top 4 year in year out was because the regularly steamrolled these sides picking up maximum points.
Sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the bigger games.

It’s actually interesting how that has changed over the last year. Previously the perceived notion was that Ole was really good against the big teams (able to set up to hit on the counter) but against the ‘lesser’ teams we struggled and couldn’t break them down. That has almost completely flipped now, we are very consistent against the ‘lesser’ teams but our record against the traditional big 6 has been very poor recently. So far this season, off the top of my head, we have played City, Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea all at home and only picked up 2 points. But as someone others have pointed out, sometimes the importance of these big games are over hyped, there are 14 other teams outside the other 5 big 6, that’s 28 games against 10. It’s almost more important to be ruthless against them and then hope to pick up as much as you can in the 10 big 6 games.
I think the games against the bigger sides can lay down a marker if you win them as much as anything. Ideally of course you want to be good against every type of side

could this game actually live up to the hype and be an entertaining game? hoping utd come to play but more likely give up the ball 73% of the game and try to hit on the counter.
