Appears to just be a rumour at the moment. Not seen any reliable sources talk about it.

Wouldn't hesitate to play Caprille if Meslier is out. Shacks a loss as KP is suspended. Calender says 13th Jan, we've had 13 days to either;

Sign Phillips cover
Sign a Left back
Sign a back up keeper and ship Kiko out
Sign a CB on loan to cover Cooper/Llorente and Koch

Is Kiko that bad that he couldn't even catch Covid?

If it is true they should be working on bringing in a new keeper on loan ASAP.

Nothing about this on NewsNow which is normally up-to-date.
Hoping it isn't correct!

As far as I can tell the only actual outlet even close to reporting it is Leeds Live, and even then it is just them saying that it has been rumoured on social media without any actual basis yet.

Could always play Stuart Dallas there.

If Meslier is asymptomatic the chances are he'll only miss one league game now Southampton is postponed. Not worth bringing someone in on loan on that basis.

I'd give Caprille a shot, but I suspect it'll be Kiki.

Bielsa has told us that no one other than Phillips is unavailable for the game.

Obviously this excludes the long term absentees (Forshaw, Berardi, Koch), but fortunately tells us that Meslier is available.

Great news!

He has also vehemently defended Casilla, though, so perhaps something to read too far into.

He’s defended casilla in the same way 2-3 times previously saying more or less that exact same thing and the player has got worse and worse

Bielsa is always going to defend his players so no surprise there. Bet if he was wired up to a lie detector though it would go haywire when asked about kiko.

Every time I’ve seen Brighton this season, they look good...yet, they haven’t had a win since November drawing 5 and losing 4. I’d be disappointed if we don’t get 4 points from Brighton and Newcastle.

It will be the preverbial six pointer on Saturday. A win would give us a massive points advantage and breathing space over the bottom four.
It can be the ugliest most undeserved victory ever for us I don't care it would just give us all such a lift after Crawley.

Wouldn't you lose confidence and struggle to do your job if you was found guilty of the number 1 sensitive topic in society and have the majority of your own fans houding you out?

Hope he moves on well and finds his form or does well for us.

A draw wouldn't be disasterous all things considered after the Crawley game and so they don't gain any ground on us. We play to win but if it does go that way the so be it.

They are all tough games. Brighton look great going forward but can’t defend or score.

We should win but then again SheffU got their first win against Newcastle - so don’t be surprised if we lose this one.

Hopefully getting a few back in the team will see us through. We missed Ayling, Dallas, Klich and Bamford big time.

January is usually a poor month for us. It starts with a cup loss and we don't stabilise till the end of the month. We don't have to worry about losing at home to Wigan this year but we do need our rested players to show up. Brighton are a lot better than Wigan and looked decent against City. They will fancy us at set pieces. Then again, who doesn't? Without KP in this one, I would take a draw right now.

Drawing at home to Brighton would be embarrassing imo given we have Bielsa and spent around 100 million on transfers this season.

Will be an interesting line up with both Coops and Llorente fit and Phillips suspended. It would have been good for Diego to get some U23 minutes but I don't think that's a luxury we can afford.
Expect the starting 11 to be Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Cooper, Dallas, Struijk, Harrison, Klich, Raphinha, Rodrigo and Bamford. Bench to be Casilla, Davis, Casey, Alioski, Pablo, Roberts, Costa, Poveda, Jenkins. Would love to see Gelhardt on the bench but I am not certain Bielsa rates him. Sam Greenwood hasn't been starting up front for the U23's and whilst I think his inclusion would give us options, I am not sure where Bielsa would play him.

Would be surprised if the line up is any different to;

Meslier

Dallas Ayling Cooper Alioski

Raphinha Klich Strujik Harrison

Bamford Rodrigo

I have defended Strujik a fair bit on here and think he has a good chance of establishing himself in the side. But do have a bit of a concern about his mobility when he will be expected to play slightly higher tomorrow.

We are struggling for alternatives though, the only other option would be to play Dallas there and either risk Llorente or play Shackleton as a right back. Hopefully Strujik starts and starts well so we don't need to worry.

Brighton usually play two up front, but have been utilising one striker more regularly recently because of injuries. That may dictate how we line up, especially with their three at the back system.
