Looks like top 7 is gone for us then baring a miracle.

Amazing at the beginning of March we can say this and just think it’s acceptable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People have a very short memory. We were horrendous up to December/January but a run of 5-6 "decent" games and everything was forgotten.
We are very lucky that teams around are just as shiiit otherwise top 7 would have been gone half way through the league.

No Bats, it isnt acceptable and Arteta already said it.

But we all watching the games. We were cheated by VAR, then every other player has a brain fart that cost us. We arent clinical enough and put games to bed when we are on top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gt there are no consequences. Xhaka is in the team everytime. Just like Bellerin was before he said he wants to leave.

Compare that to Gwen who had one bad game and was gone forever.

There is no consistency.

J99, yes Xhaka made that mistake. No excuse.

We had enough chances to win this game. That isnt his mistake and neither it is Arteta's.

We had chances. And we should have had a clear penalty. But that wasn't the point because you cannot do what Xhaka did at any level.

Like I said above you cannot give away momentum against anyone. But especially against a team who had no confidence before that.

My point however was that this is not first time he has done this. And has their been even an attempt to try to play without Xhaka?

Seriously even before the incident we both identified the lack of tempo. You do realise he is one of the main culprits of that for years!

I am sure Xhaka is a wonderful upstanding man and big influence in the dressing room. But he is too slow for the premier league and when pressed he makes mistakes. Even in game against Leeds it was obvious in the second half and that was one of our best recent performances.

Xhaka made a bad mistake, but it's not his fault we drew the game. We missed some poor chances.

Arteta is setting the team wrong. He's far too pragmatic when we need to be confident in attacking poor opposition like Burnley. Look at how many chances we created just by counter attacking.

I've accepted the fact that regardless of what happens this season Arteta will stay on. But, for me, he's still not shown he's actually good enough to take this club forwards. In fact, we're actually declining.

Massive summer ahead. We either get in the right players for Arteta to succeed, or we potentially pay for it for years to come

Yeah agree Serial.

Pepe needed to start the game. We needed pace upfront against this team.

Later we could have subbed Odegaard, Willian in when the game was decided.

I understand that.

But why not starting him and then sub him.

You'd think so. Honestly, I wouldn't surprised at all if Willian start ahead of him on Thursday as well.

Not saying this to make excuses, as I know Arteta needs to improve on his in-game management and substitutions, but I really do feel like everything that could have gone wrong this season has gone wrong.

VAR decisions not going our way, players missing ridiculous chances on a plate for them, individual mistakes leading to goals, an unusually high amount of red cards, important players suffering long-term injuries.

All of these things will take its toll on any top team, let alone a team as mediocre as ours.

Surely - SURELY - we won't be as unfortunate or rely on players with this level of stupidity next season.

We'll smash them tonight.

We are certainly one of the unluckiest teams in the premier league. I know sometimes we can be sh111t but it doesn't help when we are shafted by refs and VAR regularly.

Think we not to stop with the unlucky stuff. We allow the refs and VAR to have an influence because we are not attacking enough. The more the ball is in the opposition penalty area the more likely we will get some of those decisions going for us. The more the ball is in our half, the more likely we are to let those things on top of us. Essentially its really how much we can attack and dominate games. Frankly thats up to the manager and his tactics.

Hopefully we win today. We are a better team than 12 months. Despite some inconsistent results i have seen progress in this and thats due to Arteta

Apart from the traditional media darlings (Liverpool, United, Spurs) don't think we get anything more or less than any other team in the PL. Just the standard of English refereeing is abysmal.

Take last nights PSG vs Barcelona game, for example. Match officials were all English. Two big decisions on the penalties, both utterly wrong. Then to top it off they failed to spot the encroachment when Barca missed a pen.

Luckily in Europe, we won't have to put up with mediocre match officials from England.
