Diving is when you go down WITHOUT contact. Going down when there IS contact is not diving

Are you that dim or just on the wind up as usual?
Would a leaf falling on your head be enough to lose balance, because you know, contact n all, literally sometimes that's all it takes for players to go down, the most pathetic of touches?

Jose brought in the idea to dive and Ole has executed it. When you have Pogba shouting at his own players for not diving just shows you what kind of club United are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to say I am loving all the panic from Liverpool these last few weeks (even tho personally I still think they have little to panic about with regards United). First you had Klopp with his penalty rant/mind games, I won’t go into that incase the two lads from yesterday start again lol, and yesterday you had ex players and fans creaming themselves over Mark Clattenburg saying United had an aura about them, and how this amounted to corruption and some even wanting investigations into United title win under SAF. I can only imagine the melt down on Sunday should United win....never mind win the league.

What you're saying is a bit OTT, considering we are talking about footballers running at pace and being clipped etc. It's the same as being sat in traffic and feeling a slight bump from the car behind you. Was it really enough to cause you to get whiplash, or do you just want to claim and cash in?? If someone makes a mistake then exploit it is all i'm saying. It's not diving if you feel a kick or clip at pace. My opinion though..
I'm going to have to not reply anymore because I don't want to be banned again and Admin1 might think i'm trying to annoy people. Fair enough if people think i'm wrong and it is diving, that's their opinion so I respect it and respectfully disagree

I agree with you in that players should go down if touched in the box because if they didn't, they would probably lose the ball and the refereee wouldn't do anything.
Unless VAR and referees start giving penalty even when the player doesn't go down, players will need to keep doing that.

I know. I intentionality used that title as that's what Jose, Klopp and Frank have insinuated we do. I can only think of the Aston Villa penalty last season that anyone could make a good point about it not being a penalty. Every other one was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Without having to even review your penalties I can say that is incorrect. The Norwich one was a joke decision, one that even had Mike Riley apologising.

The worst culprits for diving are the defenders in most teams.
Don't see why strikers get all the stick.
It's simple really. Most refs don't give a pen if striker stays on his feet. So going down is the best way to show you were fouled.

I find it so bizarre how we see things this country. It is like we are the leaders of the world, it is either the British way or the wrong way.
Newsflash, there are different cultures and people approach this game differently. Winning a penalty in a clever manner is taught and supported in South American countries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Generally when embracing different cultures you want to focus on the good, not the bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who are we to say winning a penalty in a clever way is " bad." It is like the nonsense I see when Keane is saying players can't hug and laugh whilst in the tunnel... something the likes of Ronaldinho did throughout his career. Brazil only won 5 world cups.

Pretty much. But VAR isn't for that though.
The refs are the issue. They don't understand football from a playing perspective. A lot of players are therefore able to con the ref by initiating contact with the defender. Harry Kane is good at this. What Everton player was it that got banned for diving whilst being black? They should bring this back but include white players.

I said this ages ago. I honestly do not see anything wrong with a player going down when there is contact. It is up to the ref if he deems the contact enough. It is not upto the player to bail out the ref and defender by staying on his feet.
how much is enough contact btw. Anyone who has played the game at any level know that even the smallest contacts while you are in full flow can disrupt your attack massively
Another thread where people will tell us that players only throw themselves on the floor to alert the referee to the fact that they have been fouled.
Utterly delusional.

Yeah I agree. We have to get away from the narrative that contact equals foul, which only exists within the penalty area, and is pushed by everyone in the game even pundits/ex players.
But you raise a good point with the ‘how much contact is enough’, it’s very subjective but I’d say we can all agree that a lot of the time the contact is very minimal.
"It is up to the ref if he deems the contact enough. It is not upto the player to bail out the ref and defender by staying on his feet."
Oh my. It's so painful it hurts.
How can the referee accurately judge the degree of contact when the player has exaggerated it?
It's cheating. Plain and simple.

If anything, it legitimises going over when you feel contact?
