Rooney Retires: A Tribute

Amazing talent. Was hyped, but it was justified, but as we know now, obviously not on those 2’s level of consistency.
But by 2011, for me he’s standard was dropping.
And it was at a high standard, but I feel, when he reached his prime, he just didn’t do it enough for UTD.

But, any team would be lucky to have a pre-prime Rooney. He was devastating.
Prime Rooney, meh...
but overall, he was a very very good player but tailed off for a good 5 years.

I did a lengthy tribute to Rooney a couple of years ago if you missed it:

Need a manager one now really.

I'd have him just behind Hessenthaler atm.

Bobby Charlton is easily the best English footballer of all time.

Rooney is probably Top Ten imo... but that top ten is hotly contested. Lots of great candidates.

From a Man United point of view, apart from Sir Bobby and Wazza I would expect Robbo, Rio and Edwards to be contenders.

That's very Rose tinted. There have been English players from other clubs you know. I could easily say the REAL Bobby is the best ever, but have to say I think Harry winks should be up there

An understated end to an amazing career He'll end up being a decent manager imo, he's a lot more intelligent than he's given credit for.

I mean Jurgen klopp is a massive moron intelligence wise yet he’s still a good manager. See no reason why Rooney couldn’t be the same.

Wayne Rooney retires when Man Utd are top of the league.😊 Feels strange he was playing for us recently and breaking the goalscoring record and now a few years later he has retired.

I've been watching, and seen, the best of the best at the best football club on the planet for over 50 seasons now.

Rooney is only comparable with Charlton, Keane, Best and Ronaldo in terms of contribution, level, quality and that vital ingredient 'all-round-unitedness'.

And, out of all of them, he was probably treated the worst by the club.

If you have been watching United for 50+ years then you will know that this statement clearly isn't correct.
