Chorley did the opposite to us today. 1-2 down at HT, came back to win 3-2. 9th in the National League North.

Any bets?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah, put £20 on chorley
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Going to put £20 on Chorley myself. Nuno is in a relegation battle, has no solutions, has no more backing from Fosun.

He'll play the U18's and by a strange twist of fate will be sacked after they hammer us.

The CCP will not finance us any longer; that being made clear by Jeff last season.

If we want a striker, we must sell first - probably Traore to a non Premier League side for £30m.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it’s ‘Nuno’ now

No ‘we’ or ‘us’

Why don’t just feck off

To be fair it's a good 7 years since Ive felt this sick over a result. We've had a decent run but it's back to being a wolves fan again.

Hopefully there'll be no knee-jerk reactions this time. We're disappointed, and this feels very much like the Huddersfield defeats a couple of seasons ago. Two dodgy penalty decisions made the difference.
For what it's worth, I though Fabio played well, and took his goal with aplomb. Only 18, so I can see a good future for him as he gains experience.
No surprise to me to see Ajayi score - he's shown potential whenever I've seen Albion lose on TV.
I can understand our supporters badly wanting a scapegoat, but things can swiftly change, and who knows, we might start a good run going forward.

To me albion winning these days means very little. We are competing on a very different level, and as much as the season has not reached recent levels, there is no doubt that Wolves have far more potential going forward. actually winning more than a local derby is more than a possibility these days.

posted on 16/1/21

To be honest playing behind closed doors felt nothing like a local derby. But Albion is Albion and it’s still the game i least like to lose. He but in the great scheme of things what’s annoying is contriving to lose to poor opposition

Albion are poor, and their relegation is more than likely. In the great scheme of things, we have far more to be optimistic about.

I wouldn't swap places that's for sure.

I think the problem is that we haven't made any real attempt to improve centre backs and centre midfield since our first season. Now we only have two real centre backs in Boly and Kilman (one of which on starts infrequently). Moutinho is declining. Boly and Coady are out of form. Saiss is a utility player who can fill in areas, but shouldn't be a main option.

We have arguably got worse in these areas and are soft in the middle. What started as small problems that we could improve such as; needing an attacking midfielder, worries about Bennett, worries about defensive cover, questions over Coady's ability defensively in certain scenarios etc. have all snowballed into genuine problems.

I'm not sure what the answer is anymore. People want a return to three at the back, but we have terrible with that against West Ham and Burnley this season. I think something is wrong somewhere within the club at the moment and it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where that is.

posted on 16/1/21

The answer is patience. We have an incredibly young squad. not helped by key injuries. I see some real potential, but it will take time to develop, the fans just need to get behind what the club is trying to build.

Completely agree. I do think there is too much panicking, and we should remember just how much Fosun have done for us so far. They won’t be sitting idly by having invested so much already.

I'm surprised to read criticism of Boly who I thought was one of our best performers today. The very fact that he lasted 90 minutes after coming back from injury was a surprise, but he was solid defensively, got a goal and an assist and almost scored a second.

I can usually see the logic in what Nuno is trying to do but his subs today were totally baffling. Why he took Neves or Coady off I have no idea.
I can certainly see the potential in Silva and Ait-Nouri but I just can't see why Gibbs-White is so highly thought of. For me he brings nothing to the table and would be behind both Otasowie and Vitinha in my pecking order.

posted on 16/1/21

See Gem that is the thing, everyone has their own idea about the team and the players. I do see good things in Gibbs White.

Not knocking any of the players, They are all very young and show plenty of potential, lets give them chance to develop.

posted on 16/1/21

I have mixed views about Gibbs White. I don’t have an ounce of doubt about his ability but I do regularly get frustrated by him not doing himself justice when he gets a chance. Keep feeling he needs one sparkling game to boost his confidence but we keep waiting to see that

I do have patience with our younger players. The likes of Coady, Boly, Saiss, Moutinho, Dendoncker and Neves are all experienced though. We are now weaker in the areas where these play and haven't improved them since the first season back.

That is a genuine concern and isn't solved by patience alone.

posted on 16/1/21

I think the area where we are obviously weaker, is in attack. and that is what shows the most to me.

posted on 16/1/21

Do agree with you about the subs gem. Didn’t think they helped us at all today. Trouble is our bench is full of inexperienced players and at the moment every change seems to make us weaker not stronger

Interesting to see what happens with Cutrone. I think Silva is a better option. When we took him back I said I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back to Italy at the end of the month and I stand by that. Maybe he will be a match winner against Chorley

posted on 16/1/21

Donk had 3 good chances to score on the first half alone. Cutrone came really close to scoring with a header that bounced of the ground to just clear the bar. It could have been so different, so let’s not beat ourselves up about the game. We move on.

posted on 16/1/21

Cutrone's shot was a volley that hit the ground and went over the bar.

Wolves have 9 players and a coaching staff from Portugal, plus and agent. Not to mention 4 that are no longer with us.

Name any other team that matches that.

Most top teams, if they have foreign players, recruit from all over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We also have players from England, France, Spain, Mexico, Belgium, USA, Morocco, Holland, Brazil, Ivory Coast and Italy. If that’s not recruiting from all over I don’t know what.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Agreed Gem, but my question was:- Name any other team that matches that. Take a look at all the clubs in the Premiership and I guarantee that no club as the same disproportion as us.

We have relied on the recommendations of one agent, who has made a lot of money from us.

Correct. My bad.

Burnley have 16 first team squad members, a manager and the entire coaching staff from one country. Plus 2 agents that they regularly work with, not to mention 125 other players that are no longer with them. Not to mention all the ground staff, ticket office, club shop, bar and restaurant staff. They have even recruited their team bus driver from this country!

Most of their fans are from that same country as well. They are asking for trouble and this surely doesn’t bode well for them.

We have the same manager, the same coaches and only one more Portuguese player than we had when we finished 7th in the league for the second season running after having reached the quarter finals of the Europa League the season before.
I don't recall any moaning about the Portuguese contingent then.
