Cannot argue with any of this
Raphina has looked a good signing to be fair before today. But why was he on the left today?
Raphinha should've played on the right, not the left. He is far more effective on the right. Likewise Harrison far more effective on the left. Did Rodrigo play? Hardly noticed him other than missing a good chance. Passing has been awful recently and needs attention. Pitch awful, but Brighton played on the same one. Ayling fast asleep for their goal and never noticed Maupay coming in on his blind side.
As with Crawley, our opponents hardly had to break sweat.
For all of our possession and Bielsa's team's reputations for running, pressing, movement etc, we are toothless.
It was just a dire game, they play good stuff normally but they were poor too, hardly any chances in the game. That’s what happens when you play on a rugby pitch. We were poor regardless of that but we’ve looked better away from home for a while now. I think we’re light in the squad in terms of midfield options who are actually midfielders and when your best player is missing.. it really shows.
Only players i would give a plus to were Kiko which sums the game up as he only had one save to make, Coops and Roberts who i thought did well when he came on, just looked lethargic and lacked zip the pitch not helping, still need 4 wins and cant see us not getting them,
There was little of any of those three today.
We could do with a central Midfield signing to give us a lift. We are poor when Kalvins not playing
The transfer dealings are a real concern,£100 million spent on what exactly, only Raphina has shown anything, Koch made many mistakes and now injured, Lorente... nothing so far and Rodrigo..... well we were sold a dud there. So basically we're left with the players from last season, who struggled in the championship. Not looking good.
I don't know, I was thankful for heavy pitch when Kiko lost control of that shot!
Positives:
Meslier should be back next game, as will Phillips. Llorente must be fit surely so we could see Ayling at right back, Dallas at left back and two actual CBs.
No one is on form for us, this 10 day break is a good thing. Regroup, get people fit and ready for Newcastle.
Granted this is me talking from a completely ignorant position but how long does it take to relay a pitch? 16 days till our next home game, doesn't seem like something that you need 5 weeks to do.

I was told they are restructuring the pitch at end of season. A 14 week job. Replacing undersoil heating, drainage, watering etc
On reflection, I'm wondering how much of this is burnt now.
We've had little break in summer, cramming in the games and saw no energy from players today.
With very little squad rotation and overly heavy pitch, it could well be that the physical desmans are simply catching up with us.

Ah okay, makes sense if it's the whole thing and I'm guessing it will be state of the art rather than what they would do if we were still in the Champ.
Must be something they can do in the mean time though to improve it. Even just new surface.

Really... a team that won the league with 10 points were struggling?
Positives
—————
Kiko was our best player.
Roberts best we have seen this season
We defended set pieces well
Thought that was Coopers best game of the season
We did keep trying
Negatives
—————
Cameraman in first half was worst ever
The ease at which Brighton players got past ours and were able to advance 30-40metres is alarming.
Inability of Leeds players getting past an opposition player. Remember Raph doing it once and Ayling beating 2 in one move but it’s so rare. We struggle to even create enough space to get a cross in.
Strujik - simply is not a cdm. Never wanted to see him there. Never want to see him there again. Almost every forwards pass he gave lost possession. Rarely showed for ball. We could ruin a decent cb prospect by putting him a hole he does not look comfortable in.
Rodrigo poor again. Should have got on the end of that wonderful alioski cross and the game is so different.
Raphinha gives the ball away far too much again.
Decision making. How many set pieces did we have where we simply refuse to put the ball into the box. It’s much easier to deliver a cross from a static ball than one that is moving. Must have been 4 or 5 that we took and end up giving the ball away so easily and never getting a cross in. If our general play is not good enough to deliver a decent cross from the hundreds we deliver then surely we should try more directly from free kick positions. Strujik has scored a lot of goals in u23s from set pieces. Cooper gets the odd one. Just don’t get this one and drives me mad.
I think we are beginning to see the gulf between the Premier League and the Championship. Even at the lower end of the division, seasoned Premier League teams are still much better than their top Championship counterparts.
Several of our players were well rested before today's game but, if anything, they looked a little unfocused and off the pace. Sure, the pitch was poor, but we should be better prepared for it than anyone else. Brighton had a lot of injuries, but anyone who saw their game against City in midweek could see the quality was there. We were beaten by a decent team today.
Hmm that’s another negative. Brighton played extra time against Newport, and midweek against city and didn’t see any effects of that whatsoever today.
Championship players give you inconsistent performances.
Bielsa still getting so much out of what are in many cases still championship quality.
With the FA saying that teams should try not to celebrate goals scored to prevent the spread of Covid, it seems the guys have taken that too much to heart.

Agree with everything mentioned so far. Raphina coming off for Poveda summed up once again Bielsa's tendency for baffling subs. We look devoid of confidence and leaderships and I can't stand this 1 up top at home playstyle.
Too many square pegs still
Well done Kiko for getting through 90 mins with his chin up

Didn't you notice that Dallas was way out of position for their goal, wondered where the hell he had gone to but he had wandered into centre-mid.
If Ayling had started at right back with a natural centre back where Ayling was, we probably do not concede that goal.
