What the hell has happened to pitch

Horrible mate. Seen better school footy pitches. Lot of talk about the forced lights since the break thought it might have improved by this game. The snow wont have helped though.

Apparently its having major work at the end of the season

It's shocking. We can't afford to wait till end of the season, they need to at least replace the surface as a short term.

You're right it's the same for both teams but easier if you are playing on the counter and have more space, harder for us with the short passing, few moves broke down due to that

As for watering it half time wtf

As said elsewhere, my understanding is that updates and relating were planned to take place last summer, but couldn't due to the shortness of the break in between seasons.

Brighton loved it

Perfect for cattle or sheep grazing. Should be making it available to local farmers to make a few quid!

The rhubarb triangle has been extended to now include areas of Beeston.

Yep could not believe my eyes, adding more water to what was already a soggy pudding

Was going to make a post about the pitch.

It stifled our game today. Our usual fast, one-touch passing wasn't possible for much of the game. Every player seemed to need a controlling touch and our passing was way off. Looked like the players struggled to keep their footing when kicking the ball at times.

I know the pitch is the same for both teams, but I think the shoddy surface affects us more due to the way we try to play.

We've been far stronger away this season - perhaps the pitch has been a factor all along?

I worry that it's going to cost us dearly in lost points during home games this winter. Thankfully we don't play at home until February now so a little bit of time to repair it. I just hope the club can do something.

It's basically this. They replace it every close season but there wasn't enough time this year.

Bit of a handicap trying to play football on that every other game.

But it is what it is.

But it looked half waterlogged - do we not have covering to protect from the elements? As Leeds are a team that’s expected to cover most miles in every match they play, and with fluent passing, this is dragging us down. Against Brighton we continually lost our footing and several players on both sides looked to suffer niggles and twists as a result.
Apparently there are 11 council-run all-weather municipal pitches in the city yet Leeds Utd are plying their trade on a pitch not worthy of Sunday football. Very poor.

Play at Thorp Arch

Stick Sky/BT sport etc in a portakabin with windows open and players will have to rough it.

I think it’s going to be a major problem, Kinnear alluded to it on his programme notes, 25years old no major investment for years, takes 14 weeks to replace hence why it wasn’t done in the summer

In all seriousness I am sure there are all sorts of reasons in reality why we can't play at Thorp Arch contractually with the tv companies and premier league rules etc on minimum facilities even with no fans there and we'd get utterly pilloried by every man and his dog for not being able to play at our own ground.

You could argue maybe the pitch isn't safe and there are unique pandemic circumstances but nobody at club would even entertain the idea.

How about laying an all-weather pitch at Elland Road with half the season to go?

You are in the big league now. Please spend some money on your infrastructure. its embarrassing and lowers the quality of the brand.

Hey don’t hold back Devonshire! Though I have to agree - the pitch is both embarrassing and dangerous. Who’s our groundsman - a pig farmer from Wetherby?

I'm only jesting mate. you've been off the PL gravy train for a while so it will take a bit of time for you guys to really be able to invest in infrastructure and get Elland Road back to its best. Spurs moved in to their new stadium April 2019 played a few games on it and relayed it in the summer at huge expense. PL finances are mind blowing.

Germany, I'm sure LIW appreciates those who "tell it like it is" - Devonshire is right on this: ER needs upgrading.

I'm sure renovation of ER is all part of the five-year plan: AR must see that Bielsaball depends for success on a good playing surface; and he won't invest more heavily until we've consolidated our PL membership.

Is LIW a pig farmer from Wetherby then?

Simple solution, move. There's a lot wrong with ER, we need a modern stadium and much as we all have an emotional attachment to our stadium it would be easier to build one elsewhere in Leeds. Obviously the pandemic makes planning difficult but it's worth considering.

AK has addressed the infrastructure and also discussed Spurs’ stadium in his programme notes

Just remember both Arsenal and Tottenham came under criticism from fans in recent years when building new Stadia - Both clubs had a balancing acts between money for the projects and what was available for quality transfers.
