Yeah Liverpool were there for the taking in the second half.
But we played too deep and let them have the ball.
Rashford is just one of those frustrating players, sometimes world class, sometimes dire. We just got to accept that with him.
Bruno and his recent poor form and tantrums is not a good look
Shaw was easily MOTM
Shaw was fantastic, the player we all hoped we were getting 7 years ago.
We defended well, but we were absolute shiiiit with the ball. And yet, we could, and probably should, have won that game.
I'd have brought on Matic late on in that game for one of McT or Fred. Think he'd have been better on the ball when we needed a good pass.
We didn't pass it well but also never looked under real threat either. Our defence has improved these last few weeks I think.

Game was there for the taking! We didn't believe we could win it. Need to get that instilled if we are to ever win the PL again.

I think we had the belief but we were just poor in oir passing. Hopefully we'll be calmer in the next game.

This was even worse than usual.
Well done Lindelof. The ‘Lindelof cant defend’ brigade will forget all about this game unfortunately.
I'm actually happy that I'm disappointed shows how far we've come. Plus at the same stage last season (18 games) Liverpool were 24 points ahead of us.

I wasn't worried about him playing today as I knew we'd defend deep and they don't have much of a physical presence up front. I expect Bailly to play next Sunday though when I believe we'll play more on the front foot.

Immensely frustrating. Especially with neither Matic or Beekers getting off the bench. Both would have added much needed composure and sureness on the ball.
McFred have their uses but at the sharp end of the game they lack that bit of extra calmness and control in possession. And against a Liverpool midfield who were less dynamic than usual without Henderson & Fabinho in there, personally I felt at some point we should have seen one of the two I already mention or Pogba move central. A ball player would have had more joy against that particular Liverpool midfield than normal.
Yeah I’m not a fan of our midfield. I don’t think we’re a particularly well coached team in possession, but it doesn’t help that we’ve assembled a squad of players that aren’t that good at retaining the ball.

While we obviously need better midfielders who can play against any opposition and in any scenario, it's not just McTominay and Fred that were the problem today.
We don't keep and pass the ball well enough as a team, we're not coached well enough in that respect to do so.
I think a lot of the times when Rashford is offside you have to look at the timing of the pass. Never going to get in behind if he hesitates

I agree fully - I said as much in the match thread. Rashford loses the ball too much. Bruno loses the ball too much.
We've got players in the team who lose the ball cheaply (Fred, McT) and players who give it away too much trying to force things that aren't on or making daft decisions (Bruno, Rashford &, to a lesser extent, Pogba & Martial).
Like you say, it seems to be a coaching issue because plenty of managers have inherited far less talented players but but able to implement a good passing game.
