Liverpool’s cb issues are overplayed. The form of their full backs and forwards is a massive problem for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbh I'm pretty sure having VD or gomez/matip there fills a wb with more confidence than Henderson and Fabinho, or one of the kids they've played.
Taking the midfield and putting it in defence, I'm surprised Liverpool have got as many points as they have so far tbh. The defence is a unit. Having the two people calling out where u should be replaced with people that don't do that job clearly makes a difference.
If klopp doesn't get a defender in he is asking for trouble.
Clearly Liverpool are out of form and their fullbacks and forwards aren’t up to the levels of previous seasons but to completely dismiss their midfield and claim replacing VVD with Henderson compensates from his offensive attributes is strange to me. Henderson has been out far more than Wijnaldum in recent seasons due to injury too.
Any team on the planet is going to suffer when they lose their best 3 CBs and are having to move 2 of their most important CMs into defence.
Having better cb’s in the team isn’t going to make TAA pass and cross the ball better.

United were nothing like some of the others that have come to anfield this season and been negative beyond belief, west brom and spurs to name 2.
United came with a plan and it worked. They rode out the predictable high pressure at beginning then grew into the game. When they attacked they got men forward regularly. Only 1 team looked like winning it at the end and it certainly wasnt us.
Right now, no we arent all that, however with the quality of player we have, I have confidence we will get our act together eventually. The issue now is if thats not sooner rather than later city will be out of sight.
From a utd point if view though Id imagine if they think we are the benchmark and theyve come away as comfortable as they did today, the overriding feeling will be they have a real shot in this title race.

We literally handed the ball back to Liverpool about 237 times and they couldn't do anything with it.
Some team they are.
We are absolutely cack today and they couldn't beat us on their own turf and we very nearly won.
Plus they had the the ref on their side, Thiago should have received about 9 yellow cards and also Rashford was wrongly flagged offside when he was through on goal.

I was arguing that Henderson can do the same job offensively from CB that VVD does (barring the aerial stuff at set pieces, obviously). It’s a very important part of Liverpool’s game, and also probably the best part of Henderson’s.
Of course they’d be doing better if they hadn’t had so many injuries, but as Darren has said, the impact to the defence has been overstated, and having VVD and Matip in there at CB wouldn’t make any difference to Liverpool’s midfield creatively, to their transition, to their ball retention, to their build up play, to their final balls or to their finishing.
Ref had a decent game imo, and certainly had no impact on the outcome.

We were poor but the ref was not on our side.
