he was so desperate to go. why would he want to come back?

posted on 18/1/21

Probably not. He's been waank at Inter. He might have peaked early.

I would love him back, he is a proper footballer, technique, passing, vision, creativity, goals, assists and work rate. This is what our squad needs more of, and with a move away being engineered for Dele by the manager, it would be wise to add a player with similar attributes to the squad.

Some people may be put off by the way he left, but it was no different to what Bale, Berbatov, Keane etc have done, and they were all forgiven.

Eriksen made us tick with his range of passing, we could do with a player like that again.

Would happily take him back. Granted he had a shocking last 12 months with the shambolic way his contract was handled but there’s no question he’s a quality player. Was one of the hardest working (his running stats were insane), was excellent initiating the high press and scored/ created a ton of important goals in big games. His link up play with Kane & sonny was always excellent

Sell Lamela & Sanchez, get rid of Gedson, make a decision about Dele and get Eriksen back. Can’t see any long term future for Bale @ Spurs either.

Unlike NDombele & GLC, hopefully there wouldn’t be a massive adjustment period either

we have Ndom now in the deeper no 10 role, and he was astounding.

With Berg on fire and showcasing his technical prowess, we look every bit the business.

We need to keep that core of players together and keep going.

On that bombshell, no - look at an ex-player sat on the bench, how long it is taking to get him fit and integrated into the side.
Given he was injured and then ill and then injured again, but that shows ex-players coming back does not always end as it could.

This makes no sense..... Bale was a vanity signing by Levy..... His career has been dogged by Injuries over the past couple of years. Eriksen was never injured, in fact I can’t think of any long period he had out during his time at Spurs. Bringing him back is in NO way comparable to Bale

We've never truly replaced him. Ndombele is really a like for like of Dembele and I suppose Gio was Eriksen's replacement but he's never fit.

I'd love him back but where does he play in this current system? Jose likes his two sitters in Hojbjerg and Sissoko leaving the positions of one of Ndombele, Bergwijn, Kane or Son. The weak link there is Bergwijn but Eriksen cannot play on the right of a front three. There's too much defensive responsibility and he doesn't have the athleticism to do it. The reasons for leaving Dele out are the same as the criticisms for bringing Eriksen in. Great player, wrong shape.

The only way we can really fit him in is by playing with one sitter in PEH but there's not a chance Jose will do that. It's either sit on the bench for Inter or with us. If we do get him in, it'll be a Levy signing.

BTW.... Bergwijn on Fire ?????? He’s Decent, nothing more and yes, Ndombele has been very good but lets see him actually help us win a trophy or make top 4 before we get carried away.... In typical Spurs fan tradition .... He’s been very good for a month.... Let’s not make him out to be Kane, Sonny just yet

Well, Bale is an ex-player who served us well. Eriksen is the same. With Bale coming back,a lot of us thought about those memories of him marauding the flanks and that's what we all hoped for.
The same with Eriksen. We have this notion of him coming back and being this midfield maestro who will create chances after chances for us.
So every bit the same as Bale.
However, same also in terms of nothing in the past almost 2 years has shown that Eriksen is capable of producing that form.
Again, if we get him, he'll be sat on the bench

No.

Like most Spurs fans I would of killed to play for the club so then I see somebody show his level of determination to leave in order to sit on the bench in a crumbling stadium in an inferior league thats it for me.

He didn't value what he had and now he's a busted flush.

Has Bergwijn been very good for a month? I could be wrong but I don't think he's contributed a goal or assist in quite some time. I'd call that droppable form for a forward and certainly not 'on fire'.

posted on 18/1/21

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of him, but we are only going to clutter midfield with players with him.

He has been very, very poor both with us and Inter.

He hasn’t at all. He had a decent game yesterday Bergwijn and his assist to Ndombele was very nice, but he’s been poor most the season. On fire is definitely something I wouldn’t describe Bergwijn.

If it's a case of having Eriksen back or doing nothing else then sure I guess. You can always think you might be able to get that old Eriksen out of him again but at the end of the day we'd be signing a player who has been poor for 2 years.

Personally I'd rather we look at other players who are younger and more in form. I was happy enough to get Bale back and that is a signing that so far isn't working out, so maybe we should take the hint.

Yeah, and you wouldn't leave a job for one that paid twice as much. Remember, these players aren't boyhood fans like we are. They're employees that want to be paid what they're worth. They also sometimes want a fresh challenge, like Eriksen (although money is still a huge factor) but it doesn't always work out. Robbie Keane came back from Liverpool under similar circumstances and we all welcomed him with open arms.

We'd be lucky to get Eriksen back. A player with his numbers would ordinarily be out of our price range. I'm not sure he fits our system under Jose but he'd immediately be the best creator we've got if he joined.

I do think the "he didn't want to stay, fack him" line is the weakest argument against signing him again. The fact that he's been largely gash for 18+ months is, to me, a much bigger black mark.

When Robbie left he was in good form though. When Eriksen left he let his head drop for what, a year prior to moving?

We'd only be lucky to get Eriksen back if we managed to find the top class version, which is no guarantee at all.

Despite his terrible form I believe he was offered several improved contracts to stay but wouldn't sign.

He has disrespected the club and is not worthy of place in our squad.
