A friend of a friend's wife was admitted to hospital on Thursday with Covid, she was put on a ventilator at the weekend, died yesterday.

That's brutal.

We have seen two friends parents go, both in their 50's and healthy.

Was similar to what you describe, very quick.

That's why lockdown is more important not less with vaccines on the horizon

starting to hear of more people that are closer to home getting seriously ill and unfortunately dying this time

this is the absolute worst position I think we'll get to, need to tough it out until easter

SPR I didn't personally know the lassie, but she was in her early 40s, with no underlying health issues. Devastating for her husband and kids.

I am shocked at how quickly she died.

Hmmmmm

Lockdown to prevent deaths in the knowledge that it causes so many other deaths and miseries which will go on for far longer than this virus in all likelihood.

So if this vaccine rollout doesn’t have the desired affect we just lockdown until whenever.

Plan.

It's just awful.

I have staff in London and the stories there are terrible and far more numerous.

I've mentioned it before but a girl I know who is 29, in the sports industry so very fit and no conditions got it.

Hospitalised for months and left with likely permanent lung and respitory damage.

It does enrage me when folk say it's just bad flu, only the old die or those due to "peg" it die.

No but we do have a vaccine plan. If it doesn't work then yes we have to live with it.

Not taking action though while there is a plan = death

I actually agree with this lockdown in all honesty.

What I want is a thought out exit plan. Not fudge and piish continually hijacked by the lockdown brigade to extend it until all is well with the world.

And at least start to acknowledge it will cause years of deaths, pain and misery in untold measure while we’re at it instead of treating us like morons.

Grim, isn't it?

My pal's dad died during the first lockdown and a former colleague is now on heaps of tablets due to organ damage.

That was when it was barely up here too.

Now I've got a colleague in hospital with it (not ITU) and my pal who lives next door to me has it along with his wife.

Seems much more prevalent this time round.. my mum works in Raigmore hospital and they just had to open another ITU ward there 😬

With this girl dying, fit, in her 40s, it has shocked me.
I assumed it was just lethal on over 60s and or people with health issues.

Makes me more angry when I see peole flouting the rules.

Hope this vaccine works and we can all feel safe again.

Mibbe controversial, but I think giving the vaccine to 18-35 yr olds first would be a better option than giving it to the vulnerable and elderly etc...

In order to stop the spread and to get the economy going quicker, would it not be wiser to vaccinate those that are actually out and about, working, spreading the thing, not really paying attention to the rules, no giving a monkeys, having parties and all that......rather than vaccinating folk that are retired, staying at home, not going anywhere, shielding and somewhat less exposed?

Just a thought like

It's the fact this disease affects the blood and by extension attacks the entire body as a consequence that's scary.

It's the long term effects that this disease is causing that will cost our economy billions in the future. Constant treatment and medication costs, long term sick pay, drop in productivity etc

My mrs' friend is an ICU Nurse and she's said the number of Covid cases on her ward has doubled from April last year.

Even though people have been vaccinated they are still carriers and can pass the disease on to those who haven't been vaccinated, so it kinda destroys your plan

Not so

There is no evidence either way although the early signs from Israel are very encouraging as they believe the risk of infection when vaccinated is extremely low. Very early days mind.
