think these are the most difficult times we've faced and will face throughout it all, this was always going to happen on the back of the Xmas period

January/February tend to be months where people feel a bit low as it is, the hangover from Xmas period, sometimes struggling financially, cold/wet/dark days the second you get up until you go to bed

however there is hope for us now, was reading an article yesterday saying 98 out of 102 people in Israel who got the Pfizer vaccine have shown strong antibodies towards it, if we can keep rolling the vaccine out and continue to stick to the lockdown we'll slowly start to move out of this

try and speak to friends and family, keep in contact with people as much as possible

Must admit this second lockdown is taking it's toll. My life is taken up with Football what with taking my kids to Football 5 times a week between them and coaching/helping out with two teams. Now all I do is watch rubbish on TV every night and most weekends.
BUT...………..many are in a worse position.
AND it will soon get better!

I'm fed up with it too mate. It's really starting to do my head in now, feeling a bit like i'm getting cabin fever.

Can't go out. Can't see anyone. Can't go abroad. Can't do anything.

Just stay strong though mate and hopefully it will pass sooner than we might expect.

Keep the head up OP.

Cliche time, but take one day at a time and try to get out for a walk or run or cycle.

Contact old friends of family And avoid social media negativity, if you can.

Read books, watch films, do exercise indoors and try to relax, through Mindfulness or meditation.

This will end and hopefully the vaccine speeds up recovery.

And come on here for a chat too.

I really don't mind it. January is a shiite month anyway. I probably prefer this to an average January, having to get up and commute in the wind and rain. Now I get up at 8 when it's light and go about my day.

I got a puupy a few months ago so walk her each day, and she keeps me busy. If I'm perfectly honest covid is going to be a good thing long term for my lifestyle. Will work from home far more and have been able to get a dog, something I'd never have been able to do pre covid.

This summer is going to be amazing too. So many people to catch up with. My only worry is my wedding in August may not be able to have full capacity, but overall plenty of things to look forward to.

I've mostly gone through Covid and lockdown by keeping up to date with the science. That works for me. Others would probably want to do the exact opposite. The important thing is that there's no right or wrong in it. Keep up with the news or avoid it as much as you can if you will. Whatever works for you.

This lockdown is tougher in some ways than the first, what with people being more weighed down by it all, the weather being worse, the trudge of familiarity instead of it being a short interlude that's tough but we can get through. But we do at least have the light at the end of the tunnel now. I think it'll take longer than people might want, and there could well be more bumps along the way, but at least it does look like we have a broad solution.

And above it all, I'm reminded of the famous quote from Winston Churchill, or at least attributed to him:
"If you're going through hell, keep going."

At least it sounds like you guys have made a decent start in terms of getting the vaccine out (Certainly better than we have here in the states)..... Political vacuum here not helping & seems to dominate the headlines more than COVID sadly.

I’m not sure I see the need for all these repeated lockdowns though. There’s no doubt that parts of the US are a mess (no common sense) BUT here in the North East there has never been any kind of lockdown, the approach has been very sensible and EVERYONE takes responsibility for wearing a mask, social distancing, track & trace and managing bubbles responsibly. Everything has remained open and while its different its not exactly a hardship. The reality of lockdowns is that it works for a while, but as soon as it ends, you all go mental & the numbers go back up

The reality of it is that its a race against time in terms of distributing the vaccine. Sadly I fear your guys are paying the price for a lack of personal responsibility during much of 2020 ( Travel around the EU, flocking to beaches in nice weather and going on benders prior to pubs etc closing)

I hate to say and for as stupid as much of the US is... this is all about how you conduct yourself. If you are of a certain age/ underlying health condition then you should stay locked down for you good. If you are not, wear a mask and keep your distance.... It ain’t difficult. You pay your money and take your choice !!!.... Just stop crying about it

The only thing that bugs me about the UK is this “save the NHS”...... do me a favor.... its what you taxes are for & what doctors & nurses signed up for. Not much point in a free health service if it falls apart when you actually need. Us healthcare is a joke but in this situation, I dont mind paying, should I really need them. Until that point I’ll just use my common sense....... Help yourselves and “save yourself”

Anyway..... Here’s to brighter and healthier 2021 & “chin up to everyone struggling with their mental health !!! Good job so far with the vaccine roll out, hope it continues at a rapid pace around the world

Huge ups and downs for me, and for most I suspect.

Talking about it is important - be it with friends and family or an anonymous forum.

There's no easy way out of this but I think things will look a lot better in 6-8 weeks.

Don't want to give too much away here, but yes, it is definitely getting harder to cope. I have lots of shiiiit to deal with but I can't because of the travel restrictions, schools closed, getting claustrofobic in my own home. Also my dear aunty died and wasn't able to get there. Get get to my dad to mourn with him. Fuсking tears me apart.

I’m up and down. I just hope that they don’t screw the vaccination process up. I’m skeptical about the decision to change the follow up dose from 3 weeks to 12 weeks. I don’t agree with that idea.

But I keep saying to myself - it’s always darkest just before dawn. I think it is going to be pretty rough over the next month or so, but then hopefully things will start to improve.

Im up and down just now tbh.. Ive mostly been up but for some reason todays a seriously bad day for me and im not sure why.

Im extremely rational though and know it will pass so just battering on until it finally all ends!

Im contenting myself with the fact that as of the 6th of February i will see sunlight before and after i go to work haha!

I think hopefully what we're in right now is the worst of the whole thing. Things are already improving though, number of new cases looks to be falling sharply and vaccine rollout underway. I agree with Winston, things should be looking a lot better by March.

Its a long 6 weeks though.. I think thats whats the big issue with people is..

What i do is populate my calender with things to break up the monotony.. And try and pencil in things to do..

E.g.. Leicester Chelsea tonight. German Master Snooker next week. Copa Libertadores finals.

Im also quite lucky that its my sisters and nephews birthday in February and also Valentines day to break up the boredom

Agreed, it's easy to say 6-8 weeks but that is hard going on the back of nearly a year of problems.

I think forums like this are a good place for support - there's no real judgement and it's anonymous, so OP, come on to this thread and tell people how you're feeling.

If you're having a good day, tell everyone... same for the opposite.

Dont fall further into that void mate. Things can spiral out of control very quickly.
Speak to people. We are social animals and communication is a great leveller.

If that wont work have a rant to us hooligans on here or stand in your back garden and rant at the sky but dont bottle it up to fester away inside.

It is six long weeks, but hopefully each day we see improvement and moving towards an actual point is important. Not knowing when things will get better has been the toughest the last couple of months but i really feel optimistic about where we will be in six weeks.

Liverpool or the UK?

Only joking and just lightening the mood a little that's all.

Absolutely.

Maybe we should have a weekly debate, for old times sake.

Week 1 - Lampard vs Gerrard vs Scholes...
