No January signings shows the club have give up on the title, fair enough I guess but disappointing.

Trouble is I don't really see it changing, tried something new today but it was just as terrible.

What next? God knows.

Liverpool are like the great FA cup winning Wigan team or the stunning Birmingham and Swansea winning league cup teams of a few years ago. Won a trophy against all odds then teams just started taking them seriously for a bit and they just get relegated. Very similar pattern with Liverpool.

Wba newcastle fulham brighton we made enough chsmces to win those games but strikers didnt take them.

No leaders out there. Virgil hendo milner.

Robbo looks knackered and TAA needs to be taken out for a bit.

Hindsight being a marvellous thing, should have had Milner at right back for the past few games. Trent just isn’t playing himself into form.

I dont think its the "style"

I dont think the players are anywhere near fit enough. Trent is miles off getting up and down the park

Thiago and shaqiri are nowhere near fit.

Ox, forget it.

If you go into games with 7 fit players then play origi who panics when gifted an easy goal you.bloe any hope of a good result.

We can go hard for 30mins max. We are back to 2017 type levels. We are just not fit.

Missing some important players.
Many teams have struggled to retain the title.
Makes for a more interesting season for the neutral.

Is that because the style you've been playing asks too much of players to be sustainable?

We are defending well enough to be winning all these matches which is the frustrating thing.

Front three have been absolutely horrific though and Trent have just been absolutely abject. Really is costing us big time.

Agree I would drop Trent for Milner and then klopp has to wait for the front 3 to find some form and luck in front of goal . As origi showed the alternatives are no better

The backup players are on the whole schit.

Lack of strength in depth is the issue

posted on 22/1/21

We have:

Insufficient cover at CB

Inadequate cover across the front 3

No competition at RB

A manager seemingly unable to manage us out of this rot with the current players.

Given that we wont be strengthening in this transfer window, I see no reason to be optimistic for the remainder of the season.

At this point, top 4 is the best we can expect and is now our priority.

sit deep , give liverpool no space behind your back laine...and counter them

that was always the way to play against liverpool
blindingly obvious imo

could see that as soon as Klopp developed his high pressing, high line rock n roll football

Teams tried that last season but we were clinical and converted the few chances we had whilst not conceding.

The difference over the past 5 games is that our finishing has been shocking and we are now gifting opponents, who don't have to do much, with chances to score.

Wekl yesterday i think they only had 2 chances and kne was a pen.

Same with wba

I think it is nore to do with the attack. Take chances like origis or moes versus newcastlw and you win against these teams who play that tactic.

We are creating chances, perhaps not as many as we're used to, but our finishing has been very bad....to the point of not hitting the target. Like last night Origi's and Bobby's (our 2 best chances) we both off target.

Our front 3 have, over the passed 3 years, missed decent chances regularly but it didnt matter because we used to create a lot of decent chances. It's just that, now we're creating fewer, those missed chances are proving costly.
