Title Retention

Still think we have a decent chance of retaining it , we are not playing as badly as most people are claiming

Liverpool 2nd favourites for the title still IMO. City first then Liverpool.

Spurs, Everton and maybe Leicester are our rivals now.

Understand the disappointment after last night, but you’re just having a dip in form. City had theirs earlier in the season, Utd will have theirs at some point too. Inevitable, given the amount of football that’s been played since Project Restart kicked things off again.

Doubtful this will go down as a classic season for consistent high quality football from any team, but that could well make it a classic season in terms of unpredictability.

Still all to play for for Liverpool.

It's not unachievable but it will be soon if this carries on much longer.

Still definitely have a chance. 2nd favourites but the board need to back the manager in this window.

The drop off in quality when you need to bring in a player that is not first choice is huge couple that with the drop off in form of a few key performers. You're down to half a top team and people filling the gap and those off form.

Get players back in their proper positions, take Trent out for a while and go buy 2 good players. Then hope City falter.

You’re only 6 points off the top with half the season to go, by no means over.

Mathematically no but realistically it's over. I do not see this squad doing what City are doing any time in the near future. They've won 9 or 10 consecutive games, I'm not sure where our next win is coming from.

We've asked too much of the the same players for too long. TAA, Robbo, Wij, Hendo and the front 3 all look fried but we have no other option but to keep playing them.

Securing top 4 is now this season's priority.

You can still win the title but you are in complete denial if you don’t think you are playing badly right now. I feel like I’m watching Arsenal every time you fail to build an incredibly predictable attack

It's done for me, City are too strong and we don't have the tools to better them at this stage. Injuries have massively ruined this season for us and it's made us look utterly knackered.

I mean credit has to go to United too, they'll finish above us also. Really has fallen apart a little recently

That's not true. There were plenty on out board who said City could not be discounted because they had the ability to go on long winning run.

Wow. Its taking this long to realise we have completely done, I've been worried about having any hope of 4th for a month now.

forget the title.

So like Liverpool now?

Some people thought they couldn't and some people thought they could, they have.

At what point, this season, did City go an a 5 match winless streak and a run of 4 games without scoring a goal?

posted on 22/1/21

City have Aguero back soon too, which will probably be the final nail in our coffin.

City are favourites but even if they somehow blew up then it'll be Utd's title to lose. I can't see us finishing higher than Utd let alone City.

to all those glory hunters who only support LFC when they are winning, it is easy to slag off the Manager or the players when you know for a fact they will never be in there position, but remember, "Those who laughs last laughs longest"

The clue is in the title of this thread fella. "Title Retention", the win 3 games ago was an FA Cup game against Villa's U21 side.

It's not over, or even impossible. Plenty of teams this season have gone through peaks and troughs. Both Manchester clubs struggled at the start of the season.

I still think Liverpool will be well in the title race, will they win it? I personally don't think so this season but I also think it will be a close run thing.

Whilst the current position isn't that bad, 6 points off top can be turned around, its just impossible the way we are playing at the moment. I see it getting worse before it gets better with our fixtures so it's over for me.

Not unachievable

Who would've thought just 3 months ago that Liverpool would soon be in a position where they won't be able to finish above Ole + United.

Correct. 6 point is nothing if you’re playing well, we’re not and we haven’t played well for a while and shown no signs of improvement.
