I would think that the reason walter is not remembered for blowing the ten is more down to the fact that it wasn't "blown". We did not win, but neither did we implode in such spectacular fashion as Celtic have done this year.

But, you knew that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He did blow it. Spent a fortune and lost the league to a manager described in the SMSM as 'the second worst thing to hit Japan'.

Yes strong similarities in comparative records

Add to that both Walter and Lennon as individuals both pretty much some up their respective football clubs then it's reasonable comment

Very true, Duke but the fans in time forgave Walter and he was eventually welcomed back even after what he said so I expect the same will happen for Lenny?

36 years ago today, Paolo Cesare Maldini made his AC Milan debut aged just 16.

🏆 7x Serie A
🏆 5x Champions League
🏆 5x Supercopa
🏆 4x Super Cup
🏆 2x Intercontinental cup
🏆 1x Coppa Italia

"If I have to make a tackle, then I have already made a mistake."

He's right up there with Stephen McManus.

One of the best I ever saw.
Saw him walk off the AC Milan bus at Parkhead. Just stood out a mile from the crowd.

I thought barris was the best I had seen...the maldini emerged.

What a partnership!. Then Costacurta I think.
All unbelievable but Maldini was peerless IMO.

Having seen Thiago Silva I don't think he's far behind. Their ability to see the danger early and snuff it out is like a sixth sense

Indeed, if they hadn't made it in football they could have had a fine career teaching young men about marriage. ?

I never felt at the time Smith lost the 10. I felt we had got the monkey off our back by equaling the Stein 9. I was delighted with that.

Lennon equaled the Stein 9. He blew the chance for the 10.

That's the difference for me.

Lennon equaled the Stein 9.
He has also equaled the Smith 9.

He HAS been part of the team that has blown the 10 but there is no difference. You win a league by 1 goal or 20 points it is still just one championship. You blow the league before you go on a run of 9 nobody talks about the guy that was in charge being responsible for blowing the 10 although seeing as in this case it was also Lennon by 1 point in 2011 should we feel the same way you do about Smith?

There'll be rage at the club. NL will go. A new era will dawn and it goes on. In time, only his record will stand and it is right up there with the best.

Some eejit has made an @rse of wiki and tried to show Strachan as having been manager for 2 games

In the modern era you could argue that the only two managers who's reign has not fizzled out are Jansen and Rodgers?

Understand your point but neither Lennon nor Smith got close to the 'Stein 9'.
He did it on his own. That's unique.

I think walter did blow the ten. Better players, vastly superior resources and deep experience of the game here. He let a guy with a limited managerial pedigree come in and win the league in his first season.

That's the very definition of blowing the league in a two horse race.

Lennon delivers 5 trophies out of 6 and ends up being vilified.

Gerrard will manage 1 trophy out of Christ knows how many and is almost deified.

Fickle eh?

Factual records can’t simply be giggled off by eejits because it suits a ridiculous notion. Yet some will try.

Think the reason being how this was deemed a season of all seasons ginger.
The holy grail of 10.
Rangers fans desperate to stop it with celtic fans thinking it was a gimme.
Gerrard will be known as the guy who stopped celtic having eternal bragging rights.
As was wim jansen when stopping the 10.
