I hear they are both brilliant 😁😁

Simpson didn't look like too bad a defender whenever I saw him play. Although we are already a bit stacked in the centre of defence, so I imagine it means that someone is leaving.

Ofoborh, I signed last year for York on FM and was excellent, so on that basis alone he'll be a good signing

Never heard of either

Ofoborh looks like a feck of brickśhît house. Simpson apparently a good ball playing cb looking at what Howie said.

I’m guessing Edmondson will be sold or loaned then. If not Katic too, as leaves us with a load of cbs. Maybe no room for Zungu too then.

It would not surprise me if we plan to sell one of barasic or Kamara after the euros (if they happen) so identifying replacements ahead of time is good work and these cross border bosman deals are very low risk.

I'm really interested to see what happens with work permits this summer, so no surprise that Gerrard is looking at the English market given the uncertainty around eu transfers.

Good luck to these two. Like most folk know nothing about them. Some transfers will be hits, some won’t so time will tell.

More importantly- just how good were we yesterday?

What a difference in Aribo playing him largely further forward on the right rather than deeper in the left.

Sure I read something negative about this move, along the lines of Bournemouth offered him a new deal or something. Anyhoo, low risk, low cost so I'll wait and see

As for Aribo, I know he has quick feet and I know he scored a worldy yesterday but I see him lose the ball a lot turning our attacks into the opposition forward play. Ces't la vie.

That was a sparkling showing yesterday and a well deserved result

Yesterday was brilliant - and Aribo was class.

Attacking and entertaining balls are going to lose the ball though. Would rather our attacking players try take a player on or try play a player through and get it right half the time than play a simple sideways ball. Maybe not so much against Celtic, Aberdeen, Europe etc but in most games would rather the attacking players try their luck

It was an outstanding performance and very entertaining.

My one concern is Hagi - he just looks too lightweight for the Scottish game. He is a player who needs time on the ball and that is one thing you don't get in Scotland. I hope he comes good though.

BTW - Just watching the Chelsea v Luton game. Billy Gilmour really has progressed. What a tidy player he has become.

Not sure what you mean about Hagi, was great yesterday, we’re flying in the league and Europe he’s made the difference in both competitions a number off times this season. He’s just turned 22 and already proven his worth as a good player for us, even if he’s not a definite starter.

For me - he gets bundled off the ball way too easily. Hey - it's all about opinions.

Some amount of assists considering he's not been starting every week

It’s a nice concern to have as it doesn’t seem to have made a difference to his impact, been the difference maker a load of times this season and was brilliant again yesterday. He should only get stronger you’d hope though, I’d personally prefer a more direct winger in the role than him but think he’s a fantastic option.

I thought Hagi was great yesterday. He’s a really tidy technical footballer.

He lacks real pace and is fairly lightweight. But the flip side of that is he wins us a lot of free kicks.

He is a good option to have IMO👍

posted on 24/1/21

Hagi has been very good recently
Yes light weight at times but he get hit and gets on with it
He is something different to the others willing to drop a shoulder and take a shot also make great runs in behind and then spots a pass
Not ideal for every game but on his day he can be special

posted on 24/1/21

The fourth goal was a thing of beauty. 19 passes and a clinical finish. Great to see Jack back.

The last part of the build up is definitely something that has been worked on.

Aribo looked sharp and dangerous in a more forward position. Zungu looked good too. I think he just needs time to adjust to the Scottish game but he definitely has talent.

I think SG is being quite careful with Zungu, Itten and Hagi by easing them in. I thought Itten looked awkward at first but he’s looking better with every game.

Hagi is obviously still developing as a player and hasn’t found his best position. Maybe he’ll develop into a good CM who can dictate games with his range of passing. I think he’ll turn into a top player.

posted on 24/1/21

Yeah, Hagi isn't likely to contribute to scintillating counter-attacking football, but how often do we get to play that? Where he really makes a difference is finding that opening through a packed defence, and they're where we've dropped important points in previous seasons.

Edmundson will be off, he’s not seen the light of day since getting caught up with Jones breaking the covid guidelines.

Or maybe Liverpool want Goldson to sure up their defence... Genuinely could see someone buying him he’s easy good enough to be a regular down there
