Mrs Mike has had her first jab (Pfizer), as she’s a Nurse on the ITU covid wards. Think her second is booked for late March. She’s also got a home kit to test herself twice weekly (12 weeks worth) which she’s half way through.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They're 5hite, both the Missus and I tested positive on the home kits, but the kids all tested negative. Went to the walk-in testing site on Tuesday and it turns out we're all positive.

Good for you, manfrom.

Now wait 10 years and if you get any awful long term effects, you can respond to those TV commercials that say “if you’ve experienced (insert deadly side effect here) as a result of getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you may be entitled to compensation”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
U said mrspoolmy was in health care. I suppose she’s getting it too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah she is in health care. However, the hospital has declared that it’s an option to get it or not. She actually asked for her dad to get her dose and they told her no.

Her dad and grandmother are in the same hospital she works in. That just breaks my heart.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s crazy. My conscience couldn’t handle working in a hospital, surrounded by the most in need of protection, and yet still refusing a vaccine.

Not being funny, and I’ll have one when it’s offered, but what difference is the vaccine actually going to make? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I understand it, It won’t (as far as I know) stop you getting Covid, nor will it stop you spreading it. The vaccine just lessens your chances of getting very ill / hospitalised / dead. Which is good obviously, but how is it going to get us out of lockdown?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it stops you from getting Covid and stops you spreading it. Its like a DTP shot, you dont get any of these diseases and you dont spread them either because you will be immune.

So a lot changes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not yet known whether it’s stops you getting it, all they know so far is that it reduces the chances of it making you seriously ill. They also don’t know if it stops you passing it on to other people.

It’s people like you who make things up and then spread it around that are a big part of the problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're mixing up Coronavirus with Covid-19 and then tell me I got it wrong
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are completely wrong. This off the ukgov site:-

Can you give COVID-19 to anyone if you have had the vaccine?
The vaccine cannot give you COVID-19 infection, and a full course will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill. We do not yet know whether it will stop you from catching and passing on the virus, but we do expect it to reduce this risk. So, it is still important to follow the guidance in your local area to protect those around you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No compensation for you though as you don't want one, unless some black guy gets one before you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, I’ll only get one when a few years have passed and I’m able to see how many people end up having long term effects from a rushed vaccine.

And then you’ll all have to apologise to me for being such sanctimonious clowns when I said that giving a rushed vaccine to a racial demographic first is eerily similar to the mistakes made during the awful Tuskegee Syphilis Study.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m not sure that’s how your opinion on this started....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously who gives a fack?

The argument I was making was that let’s assume the vaccine is 100% safe...why should I put myself at risk to wait to get it so that someone else can have it first?

I have two children less than 16 months old. If it’s safe, then I’m doing whatever possible to get it so that I can watch my children grow up and not have serious complications from the China virus.

But let’s say it isn’t safe, I made the case that it is irresponsible to give it out to a racial demographic first because if something goes on, then it’s a repeat of that disgusting Study I just pointed out.

But you fools then made this about how selfish I am and how I’m racist because I’m “upset” that a black person would get it first - which is wrong.

So people just need to facking get over it. I have two family members who are in ICU right now battling COVID. One is my father in law and he will have to have a breathing machine likely if he is discharged because it messed his lungs up. He’s only 57 years old.

My other relative, my spouse’s grandmother, is in worse shape and doctors said that she may pass because of an underlying health issue and she’s not showing any progress.

But guess what? No vaccine for either of them. Why? Because they were supposedly not in a high risk category to begin with.

At the end of the day I don’t give a fack about anyone BUT my family. So, if it came down to where a safe vaccine was available between me and someone else who isn’t family, I’m taking the damn thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

you've swallowed trumps RUBBISH about calling it a china virus. Its racist rubbish

It’s also the truth

I’ve been at the Etihad vaccine centre twice a week now giving it out, the general consensus is a couple of paracetamol and a pint of water the night you’ve had it, and you shouldn’t have quite as bad a hit the next day - not had mine yet, but seems people of all ages are a bit ropey the day after

Had my vaccine yesterday, Oxford one. Feck me it’s wiped me out today only just feeling up to it now, and I’m 29! Make sure you drink plenty of water and have paracetamol in chaps!
