Martial is not sheite but like Rashford is going through poor form. It's not great to see him struggle but that is the same for the entire team, it's painful to watch.
At least Marcus is scoring but form wise it's not great, yes goals scored is great and he's registered 16, all good but general performances have been poor. He's not the only one, we probably have a team full of inconsistent players.
Let's not scape goat players when fundamentally Ole is the one not coaching out getting the most of them, out of every single player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you really coach someone on their attitude?
SAF got rid/let go of very talented players in the past because their attitude stank. Martial is not being scapegoated for the sole reason of our form/results, but he is one of the few in that team that doesnt put the effort in, and that's a fundamental trait of someone who wants to be succesful in this team/league.
Compare him to Bruno purely on effort. Bruno sprints around all game, closes down with so much intensity. Same goes for 34 year old Cavani, constantly running and closing down. Rashford also closes down and makes effort more but clearly cannot sustain that for 90mins (not sure if he is unfit or holding an injury).
Martial just isn't the right fit not only for Manchester United but also for the Premier League. The guy clearly is technically gifted and that will get him decent stats in leagues such as the French league but he will never go on to be a top footballer purely down to his attitude.

More to his game than Rashford.
Trouble is it seems the hyperbole surrounding Rashford means he has become undroppable.
Don't want either in the starting line up, but it would be wrong to drop martial before rashford. Especially as he has been asked more often to play out of position.

Even the ones who wont work hard, or even move.... stink the place out with attitude.... and those who are clearly not good enough. All on the manager.
....is there any room for Fred? Because he's the worst passer of a ball I've seen in a United shirt for well over 30 years.

Agreed..
Can’t pass
Can’t shoot ....and he’s Brazilian .
Whatever you say about Ole you cannot argue that he hasn't given Martial more than a fair crack at the whip. Martial lucked out with Ole actually - a manager more interested in short-term success would not have let him take that number 9 position at the start of last season.
As for 'he's not coaching him properly' or whatever - it's just a tired, lazy accusation. Some of the fundamental flaws in Martial's game were actually Ole's biggest strengths - I find it hard to believe that Ole is not noticing this.
Martial has played under numerous managers for club and country and those same flaws are exposed time and time again. The player himself has to take responsibility. No one is more dissapointed than me to have to say this, because I genuinely thought we had a potential superstar on our hands after his first season, but it really is time to bite the bullet with him. Squad player or sell this summer. And something tells me he won't be much use as the former.

Aye... Done with him. Like the post says he'd probably be useless as a squad player with his attitude. Even more worrying is I don't see anyone coming in for him and definitely not offering him 200k a week. So I'm afraid we're stuck with him...
Another dud on big wages...
Martial is nowhere near as crap as Willian.
Willian for Arsenal is the true meaning of crap
Made this point a while back, he seems to wilt under the threat of competition in the side. Really not a good sign for a supposed top player. When he's on form he's great to watch, but just not often enough I'm afraid.

Pretty fair assessment of him to be honest. Would swap him plus cash for Haaland in a heart beat. It's from his comments this weekend that United are still interested

If I had to pin down Martial's ideal position, it would probably be the deeper lying of a CF pairing. Unfortunately for him its a position that's largely defunct but for a few clubs across Europe (Inter, Atletico off the top of my head).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be the left sided forward of a three in a team that doesn’t have to unpick a ten man defence every week.
A good part of the reason why he looked much better last season is that teams were setting up differently against us and he had more space to play in.

France is a great country but lots of French are miserable gits. Like when I went to buy some stamps. The shopkeeper asked if I'd bought my postcards from him. I said no he said well buy your stamps somewhere else too. I always think of Martial as that kind of French.

I know a Belgian woman married to a Brit, who has lived in a nearby village for years, works in the local post office, totally integrated into village life, everyone knows her. The day after the Brexit referendum one of the villagers walked into the post office, looked her in the eye and asked, "When are you leaving the country?"
This is irrelevant to the thread, just came to mind in relation to humans being unpleasant to foreigners during potential stamp buying transactions. Around the world quite a lot of people have stories to tell of not very nice experiences with the English.
