Until the likes of Jota, Henderson and Fabinho are back there's not a lot we can do system wise. We've some decent fixtures coming up though.

Yeah we really are limited atm. Still 13 games left. Plenty to play for re top 4 places

Top 4 is gone. Every team knows how to beat us now. Pack out their box while we lump crosses in to the shortest front 3 in England. Hit a ball over the top and then win a Penalty or score a 1 on 1

Fixtures looked good when you had to play Burnley and Brighton at home.

How did those fixtures pan out?

Hard to see how we fix it really, it’s difficult but i feel it’s worth experimenting. Pretty evident this team has considerable problems so I’d look at a formation change. We are in relegation form results wise and the performances match it. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again. Something has to change, whether it be personnel or system.

It sounds like Milner is close to being back so I’d bring him back in. Push Thiago further up.

Fabinho back too hopefully so he goes straight in at centre back.

Can we get a couple of appearances out of Keita?

Firmino has to be dropped. Maybe push Jones left and Salah or Mane through the middle. Jota should be back in a couple of weeks too then bring him back in.

Alisson
Trent Kabak Fabinho Robertson
Keita Thiago Milner
Salah Mane Jones

It's funny, you're describing the exact thing that happened to us under Wenger (after our best players were sold rather than injured). Teams just stayed deep and central, allowed our FB's to float in aimless crosses at strikers who couldn't head the ball and were hugely outnumbered.

How top managers and players can't get their heads around what's happening and stop playing exactly into the oppositions hands (over many games) is painful to watch

Think we need different teams home and away. We have a Anfield hoodoo. No doubt Klopp will be on phone to UEFA and tell them neutral venue is fine for the Leipzig game.

The biggest concern I’d have watching you recently is the form of the front three. They’re getting the ball in similar positions to normal a lot of the time, just not doing what they normally do with it.

posted on 20/2/21

I think that the main problem is that Klopp wants to play the same way regardless of Personnel or opposition. I feel that we should start mixing it a little bit. Why not play a 4-4-2 for instance? Or not play with such a high back line? We have been trying to retain our shape by shoehorning our best midfielders in defence and succeeding in weakening both the defence and midfield. The front three rely on balls being played quickly to them, which is not happening at the moment as Wij and Thiago slow the game down. Play players in their correct positions, tighten the defence with a defensive midfielder. Also, playing midfielders in defence make us toothless up front for corners etc. Can’t remember last time we threatened anyone with a corner kick.

“Mum, I made a mess on the bed sheets again”

Seriously, the CL is difficult enough to win if you’re playing well. Right now we are a long way from playing well.

At present, based on current performance and outlook there is a minimal chance of that occurring.

Kind of caught in a perfect storm. Always been an imbalance in the team, with midfield the weak link. Not addressed through signings, and generally a lack of squad depth. In England Klopp has been sussed - everyone knows how Pool will set up now. An incredible string of injuries most in central defence - why so many? And a shiitt season for everyone with the plague.

Need some new players, but you also need some new ideas. On the bright side when you get back to it - and you have too many talented players not to - it will feel great. The lows enhance the highs.

I don't think we have a lack of squad depth really. Most people were happy with our squad going into the season. The amount of injuries we have had have made the squad look weaker than it is.

Absolute nonsense. There was a complete balance in the team, which is why we were the best team, it's the midfield which gave that balance.

I'd also suggest instead of needing new players, we need a fresh start with injuries. Although a couple of players wouldn't hurt of course.

It's not fine at the moment obviously but come next season, as long as our injured players are back, I think it will be.

Well it's not fine as now there isn't a balance in the team. With three first choice centre backs being put out for the season and the fourth choice moving back from midfield and getting injured. Then the fifth choice moving back from midfield and getting injured. Applying this seasons inbalance due to injuries being centralised massively on the one position to there always being an inbalance is ridiculous.

Look at your midfield. I like Fabinho, and Henderson and Widjnalum are solid. Keita I don’t know. Beyond that you have the youth, the clapped out, and Thiago. It doesn't look great to me.

Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Thiago, Milner, Keita (when fit), Ox (probably seen his best days). Not bad at all.

It doesnt look great because we haven't seen them play together in midfield???

Are we ignoring that now?
