Newcastle away at 20:00 on a Saturday night. Gawd knows what time we’d be back home if the doors were open to fans

Why would anyone come home? Great city and great place to spend a weekend pre covid

Wilson and Joelinton if they're out will be a benefit to us, saint Maximin looked dangerous tonight and will need watching though. They're in a pretty perilous position now though with Fulham picking up points. Have to say I'm still seething about those two points that we lost to that bloody ridiculous free kick at ours back in October, this is a very average Newcastle side that we should beat and should've beaten already this season.

I've had to do some "mopping up" after Newcastle night's out, however there are far more ways to find mischief in London though I've found to my cost.

Spent a weekend in Stockholm 'on the pull' and only managed a Russian lass and she wanted to fight the world

Have to say I was a little underwhelmed with Swedes, seemed a bit of a myth all this blonde thing, was perhaps 50/50 in Stockholm and man that place was expensive. Sixty hours in the city and spunked through the best part of a grand just partying it up.

If we can maintain our form in the coming weeks it looks promising that we can climb into the top half of the table. The three teams directly above us in the league all lost on Sunday

U23s have two games this week. They are at home today, playing Palace at Kidderminster at 14:00. Then on Friday at 12:00 they are away at Fulham in a game taking place on the playing fields of the London School of Economics!

Be good to see the likes of Vitinha, Otasowie and Ait Nouri get games now they aren’t in the first team. Must help their development as a break from just training games at Compton

All sorts of reasons were being put forward by the prophets of doom as to why we’d slipped down the table this season. I always felt the vast majority of the reason was the injuries we’ve picked up and particularly to Jimenez.

We should have a deeper squad, but when a club’s must important player gets injured it’s always going to have a big impact. We’ve seen how much Liverpool have suffered without Van Dyke. Yesterday Grealish was absent for Villa for the third time this season and they have lost all three of those games

Following on with more useless information. Remember Michael Mancienne? Now back with Burton Albion, after 2 years here in US.

Unfortunately Vitinha, Otasowie and Ait-Nouri aren't in the squad to face Palace in 25 mins.

That is true that they all lost on Sunday but it is also fair to say that they were all playing teams currently in the top 4.
We can't be worrying about what teams around us are doing we just have to concentrate on our own performances and pick up as many points as possible. After that, what will be, will be.

Absolutely Gem. Just concentrate on getting as many points as we can.

Under 23's 2-0 up against Palace nearing HT.

If the U23's win, we go third with games in hand on the top two. Unlikely we'll get automatic promotion, but in with a chance via play offs.

Injuries haven't helped but no doubt we had other problems, certainly from an attacking sense, even before Jimenez got injured we were all talking about how isolated he was in some games.

Furthermore Nuno had tried to address that by adopting a new system which unfortunately kept getting changed about due to a handful more injuries. Even the last week or two Nuno has talked about our forward issues but the last game and a half we have improved and Neto said the second half at Southampton had to be the bench mark. Hopefully the last thirteen games see that being the case.

we are 2 points down compared to the same number of games as last season - and someone on molmix has worked out that we are 6 points down on the same fixtures, subbing albion for watford etc.
all things considered - injuries, doc and jota sold, no pre-season and so many young players then i think nuno and the club can be congratulated for doing so well. 11th and possibly higher i see as a major achievement

One way or looking at it. Personally I think we will look back on this season as a missed opportunity. We basically gave up two months of the season because we failed to address a simple issue of having a back up striker. We could literally have picked up a championship journeyman in the summer and be five or six points better off.

The league is wide open, our squad is good enough to challenge the top six but a few injuries leaves us bottom half, that frustrates the hell out of me.

Hopefully next season we bounce back with a vengeance.
