Ole's mistakes

My biggest gripe is he doesn't seem to be able to energise them before kick off. We should be going all out in the first 20 against a team like Newcastle, but we seem to plod along until half time. We often come out with a faster, more determined approach in the second half, which shows he knows how to deal with the issue... But just isn't getting that fire in their belly from the off.

He is a reactive manager, rather than proactive?

indeed...he basically needs to give his HT teamtalk before the match. or just bring in a natural orator to inspire the troops:

He makes plenty of mistakes. Not sure he had any real alternatives to playing Fred and Matic in midfield though, with DVDB, Pogba and McT all injured. Mata has barely ever played as a central midfielder and his lack of legs could have been exposed as Newcastle deployed quite a high press. I'd put that idea down as quite a radical tactical move, with inherent risks, rather than an obvious mistake.

I definitely get frustrated with certain decisions but at the end of the day we’re 2nd in the league and there’s still work to be done in terms of signings.

If Maguire is giving our team talks, I think we've solved the mystery of our slow starts.

Nice to know they include Paul scholes in their team talks

The guy is a tactical dinosaur who hasn't figured out a system in his job which he has held for more than 2 years now. Our defense still cannot move the ball out from a goal kick under pressure and that is all down to coaching.
Am I calling for his head? No. Will I be disappointed if he is sacked tomorrow. Not at all

The lindelof/maguire partnership clearly doesnt work. We see this week in week out and look more solid with bailly in there. I also think he is being let down by some as well.

Martial and Greenwood haven't hit the heights of last season (martial being particularly bad) and we didn't sign what we needed over the summer as the issues at rw, cb are still there

"... we didn't need both Matic and Fred. I would have chosen Fred for his energy levels, and played Mata for his passing ability. I think we would have got the ball forward faster and more accurately. "

Interestingly in his analysis of the game on MOTD Dion Dublin highlighted Matic for starting moves, creating, his range of passing.

His mistake are he’s too loyal to some players that seem to get picked regardless of how poor they’re playing. The insistence of playing 2 defensive midfielders with two slow central defenders that still keep making the same mistakes and constantly conceding from set pieces, out of form goal keeper, slow reaction to subs and more.

He's got us scoring - which is amazing in itself, with the coldest #9 we've had in decades. My biggest gripe is his insistence that we play out from the back - when clearly we don't have the players for it. Everyone else is on to us and have been picking off these passes. The players should play with confidence, and not play in fear. If I found out he was fining players who refuse to play out - I'd want him sacked, and I have my suspicions. Look at the body and eye language between DDG, Lindelöf and Maguire on goal kicks - they are a communal disaster.

Was more p!ssed seeing De Gea and lindelof in the starting lineup tbh...

We are borderline unwatchable far too often...

I thought Matic was probably our best player last night, We'd look in far better shape if we had a younger Matic/Carrick

The biggest problem for me is our lack of rhythm. If we could simply play better, less would be made of team selection or substitutions.

Matic is a far better passer and far better technically than either Fred or McT. It's just a shame he has no mobility whatsoever, which means he would almost certainly be overrun without having someone alongside him when he plays

Fock knows what you watch... Playing out from the back has been one of our biggest improvements... Still a work in progress, but a clear improvement and a clearly coached part of our play under Ole.

Tempo, team selection and style are areas of concern

Ole prefers the counter attack. We can be devastating when the conditions are perfect. But when the opposition parks the bus we are terribly slow and poor with the ball. Players unable to execute the basics of passing is a coaching issue. We are just one dimensional.

Yes we may be lacking a few quality players but with the players at Ole's disposal we should be beating the likes of WBA.

Our tempo and passing should be up to scratch by now.
