Rime is a form of ice. Rhyme is the word you and Coleridge are looking for. It could be about some goal keepers we have had in the past from the first two lines

It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three..

'Rime' is the owd Inglish spelling of 'Rhyme' Coleridge wasn't as young as you Spart.

However, the "frost" of the ancient Mariner and the Ram-iner works well too, maybe Coleridge was being a clever "richard" with his words.

"It is an ancient Bywater
And he kicks into touch, one of three.."

I think is the poem you're referring to.

Spelling wasn't all that important until we needed standard spelling in order to run an empire. The civil service exam in order to gain a post in the empire demanded standardised spelling and educational establishments have done ever since that time. Hence rime is frost and rhyme is a poem where the last syllable of each line sounds similar to the one in the next or next but one line. Coleridge was too out of his head at the time to realise what the spelling should be.

Well Morris has taken out a mortgage on the ground for about £30 million I think so I guess he is. Will pay it off when he sells the club.
