Not quite as simple as all that, of course. For instance, a number of the more valuable members of our 25 man squad (Llorente, Koch, and Rodrigo) have spent significant spells out injured, and have often been covered by players not included in our 25 (Struijk, Shackleton, maybe Roberts).
West Ham had to use far fewer young players than us, and that's not even getting started on the fact that much of our first team has limited experience of football at this level compared to the others.
Too many other factors that this sort of thing doesn't account for. Nice to have some positive affirmation though,
I was pointing out the fact that that teams who have good management and their own academy schemes can produce as good young players as the big teams. Unfortunately some teams have to sell to survive. It is painful for the fans to see it happen but that can be necessary, unless the directors are just cashing in and filling their own pockets. The days of people like Jack Walker are a distant memory although there are probably still a few that I don't know of and in that case no disrespect meant. Can't afford the telly license fee these days so can only read what is in the papers. Definetely influences my opinion but can't afford to buy several papers every dsy to get different views.
