Yep. I agree with Wellies it’s a shame Rooney can’t find a place for Sibley in a central position. Sibley does have a decent eye for goal. Shinnie and Knight are so good at the chasing around I think he daren't drop either of them and it doesn’t appear that Rooney trusts Sibley enough out of possession to play there. I like Bird and I thought he was one of our better players last night but he hasn’t scored or shown signs of creating goals. Bielik was such a presence it seemed easier to balance the other midfielders around him.
When I look at team selection the first question I ask is where are the goals coming from. A good team has several ways it can score, that makes it harder for defenders.
At present our only way of scoring is to get it to CKR, a player who has never been a prolific scorer through his long career. I commend him for his attitude and work rate but he needs more support. We need more threats from midfield and the flanks to trouble the opposition. We do seem to be better at set pieces though. I thought Knight and Sibley could provide another source of goals but they both seem to have hit a drought.
Couldn’t agree more Spart. On the occasions that CKR and Gregory have played together I thought they linked up pretty well but of course we then sacrifice a midfielder. But it’s good we are now grumbling about types of goal rather than there being no goals at all. Rooney is smart enough to realise that if you have a squad with limitations of quality then you get a better return by concentrating on the bread and butter side of things such as set pieces than you do from trying to play the beautiful game. He has passed his first test with flying colours, the next one will be to evolve a style that might get us challenging for the top end rather than merely surviving. With Jozwiak, Sibley, Roberts and maybe Lawrence available at some point then we ought to carry more of a threat than we do at present. Although Rooney wasn’t happy with the first half against Udders I thought there was promise there. Our full backs are attack-minded and decent crossers of the ball and CKR and Gregory could benefit from that.
Marshall
Edmundson Wisdom Clarke
Byrne Knight Shinnie Buchanan
Sibley
CKR Gregory
Maybe Lawrence or Jozwiak could also play in Sibley’s position.
Rooney was very complimentary about Gregory last night. Watch this space.
Gregory had a great chance, in prob our best move of the 2nd half, when he linked up with Roberts wide on the R.
With one striker, Waggy & Joz are encouraged to come into the centre to support Kaz and those sort of chances are not created
Racist abuse of CKR on social media last night. NFFC has apologised. This shouldn’t be an opportunity for getting on a high horse - there are fans like this everywhere. All the club in question can do is to come out and condemn it, and to say it will ban the individuals if it finds out who they are.

Not wishing to change the subject, but a bit concerned about the Hebster. Not like him to miss the rough & tumble of El Cloughico.
Also, still no sign of 3xRamdini

Pearson is an excellent manager AND a bit of a nutter at the same time (as Colin Murray alluded to on the highlights programme).
It's an interesting combination and I think he will do a good job for City, unfortunately.

Too many erseholes in MM's earhole when he came here.
I think one of them is failing spectacularly in the Udder defence ATM?

Or any time, as far as Im concerned
Pearson's career in management is like the little girl with little curl. When he was good he was very very good but when he was bad he was horrid. I expect him to do something deranged before the end of the season.

Definitely the wrong time Ang, but he has a decent record as a manager and it would have been interesting to have seen what he could have done with is. Drones and player power put pay to that though.

Has he got Craig Shakespeare with him now?
How much of his his success has been in partnership with him ?
CS didnt come to Derby with Pearson, did he ?
Can just imagine Scouse's reaction to a shouty, aggressive manager
By all accounts Pearson is a control freak who wants absolute power over everything in the club where he is manager. I guess that can work to a point but you can see how it can lead to conflict and it isn’t a recipe for long-term harmony, especially when you factor in the fact that he is a loony.
I think Pearson could have made a difference at Derby if he'd been allowed to have a proper sort out.
DCFC is and always has been to much of a cushy number for some.
I also agree with Vidal, he's still a nutter.
Anyone who claims to have gouged out the eye of a wolf with his bare hands while in a solo walking holiday in Transylvania has got to have at least one screw badly loose.
