Begs the question...why start Timo Werner against Atletico in the first place when one is fully aware of his limitations being ruthlessly horribly exposed, struggling with the basics and out of his depth at present?

Hasn't been in any kind of acceptable form for months...needs to sit out next few matches and work his way up to starting.
Start players that deserve to start or haven't had much of a look-in

Playing against us will suit him.

When the game is stretched...Werner will be a suitable option off the bench to run at tired legs, sure.
I have no interest in re-living a Timo stinker against your lot again, the draw in October was painful enough.

Timo has deserved to start. Pulisic and Ziyech are way off form.

Yep. Werner hasn’t been great but he’s been involved in most of the goals we’ve scored under TT. Ziyech, Pulisic and Havertz have been struggling with injuries and form for some time now. Mount probably our only in form attacker (Cho as well at WB).

Well, he made a valid point there, Tuchel. Timo's strength is that burst of pace and change of direction, and needs space to execute that. Good point

Wonder how he'll setup the team now, with Timo in the line-up. Play a more possession at the back with patience to wait for gaps behind the opposition defense to let Timo have a go? Interesting!

Yep... Despite Werner's failings he worries defenders and keeps them on edge. He remains our main attacking threat, which is an indictment of how poor other attackers have been.

And that, in a nutshell, is why we never pulled the trigger with him.

I dont think you are correct. He would suit Liverpool much more than us. Look at Salah. They are very similar players. The main difference being Werner's finishing or lack off. But in Germany that was not the case.

Ironic he drops him to the bench in this of all matches, were he probably will get space to attack on the break!

We’re playing United Brums

Ole’s bus isn’t going anywhere
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They usually play on the front foot - it's their attacking play that's got them where they are at the moment as the defence is suspect (or has been).

I expect we'll have plenty of opportunities to hit them on the break today!

They do? They’re a counter-attacking team under Ole. They use their pace in attack to sucker punch teams
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Could have used that pace 1st half Sidey. Just the sort of game Giroud shouldn't start, he's been completely ineffective this half!

I'd imagine we'll see him around the hour mark Sidey!
