Being able to spend £80M on a statue pretending to be a CB wouldn't generally be taken as a mark of poverty.

Leave them to their fantasies.
It makes for amusing reading.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where has City's money come from, they didn't used to have any, and quite suddenly became rich.
Not that I care really, it's no different to Chelsea say, with us it's the other way, how did we get poor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re hardly poor. It’s not as if the Glazers have held back the purse strings on players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's all comparative Melton. We have enormous debt and they have taken hundreds of millions out of the club. With different, better owners we would be seriously rich bearing in mind our income. Not this year of course
And how did you become rich?
Your all only concentrating on United
Buy winning more trophies than anybody else over the last 10 years.

Nope wrong answer, that's how you stayed rich. Come on Boris, be brave, tell us how you got suddenly rich all those years ago
Because someone saw our potential and invested in the club.
Hardly something new, it's been happening for the last 100 years.

Same as everyone, investment followed by reaping the rewards of the hideous disparity in prize winning and money that is modern football

I get that but comparatively speaking, your asset growth and the amount they’ve invested in the playing squad is still huge. You are still seriously rich.
There were a lot of calls for Rishi Sunak to clamp down on tax avoidance after the budget.
That won't do United much good if he bows to public pressure.

No, it happened at Chelsea first. You can call it investment, but they bought the success, same as Chelsea did. You went from being, well City, to Champions and glorified in it, as I would have done of course.. No shame in it, but City fans don't like to admit it

I’m completely fine in admitting that.
I’d argue the opposite though, it’s fans of the perceived historical big clubs that don’t like to.
Arsenal with Henry Norris
Liverpool with the Moores Family
Blackburn with Jack Walker
United on several occasions over the years.

That’s ignoring the floatation on the stock markets too or the changing of both the prize money and match day allocation.
As I've said previously, my best mate and ex golfing partner was a City fan like his Dad Sometimes we could play a whole ripping each other. When City were bought his first words in the car park were 'richest club in the world'.
So of course I don't care, it enlivened the rivalry no end.
But I do find some City fans defensive, don't you Boris?
Even if City got an injection of cash over a decade ago the fact remains we should still be able to compete with them. The fact we don't is a failure of the owners and board. We make plenty of money. We just spend it poorly when we do.

Is this the same family that failed to invest and guide the club properly allowing United to overtake Liverpool and resulting in 30 years without a league title.
Good point bro. Totally comparable to the Sheikh's billions.
The Moores family that recruited and funded Bill Shankley is the one I'm on about.

Well usually if you don't defend an allegation, it's assumed it's true.
In football that is, not in most other walks of life.
They doth protest too much.
Liverpool and United fans moan about it too much.
Well there's no singing while you're winning at the moment for either of them, so what else can they do with their incontinent mouths?
Claiming they can’t compete with City financially is an easy get-out to paper over the cracks of their own failings
