Actually just checked that 90 million includes all private testing. NHS staff, other mandatory health screening.
Yes track and trace will be the bulk of it but can't really use that total number to justify track and trace at all.
Before you even talk about the fact the government shouldn't be paying anywhere near £120 a test.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do the government actually have any control over the cost? It’s a kind of “that’s the cost; take it or leave it scenario”.
Leave it and we would really be in the proverbial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now now ginger.
If you want me to believe that your company procurement team pay full retail price for any services or suppliers your company engage then fine.
Any procurement process you look at retail price and actual cost without overheads and profit and meet somewhere. Usually bigger the scale the closer to cost price you get.
Now the most expensive suppliers I have is £95, that includes all staff costs and overheads. I won't say what the cheapest one is but it's significantly lower.
I have been involved in government procurement processes for the SG and can tell you that they due to scale get far better prices than anything I've been able to secure at private companies.
But I know you know this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeahe of course. But we have time to negotiate. And we can take our business elsewhere.
I’d think in any event that the prices will be dropping. We pay for all the tests we use and already we’ve seen the price drop from £12 to circa £8-9 for lateral flow tests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you look at the government programme? Was initially only for march but they have extended it to June.
They provide all the tests free, online training for your staff. You do have to pay for their booth things and some other stuff but still pretty good deal.

Yeah we looked at this mate but I wanted daily tests and not depend upon so many people deciding which two days to take them and then quickly descend into not bothering.
Also we rolled our programme over a month ago so I bought 30,000 kits up front.

Over £33k so far. And that’s for only 2 of the businesses. The others procure from another buying department as we are separate legal entities.

You know I didn't claim that, SPR. Just suggesting that we might be in the right ball park when nobody seems sure what all that number covers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey no worries, certainly wasn't saying you were making mad claims. Just looked into the info as I was genuinely surprised by that number knowing what I do about testing.
Dig a bit deeper and that headline number at the top of the site hides a lot of things.
Testing is going better though, getting businesses to do a lot of it for you is certainly a good idea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The test site the wean works in is going like a fair he can work almost any time he wants
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There you go guys, all these billions are helping fund Zach jnr so he doesn't need to tap up dad for beer tokens.

Plan of action:
Get the referendum agreed.
Hold the vote on the 12th of July ( considerable number of unionists away burning pallets)
Scotland wins and is independent
Wales follows a year later
Ireland unifies off the back of Scotland & Wales indy.
In despair the NI/Scottish unionists all move to live on Rockall where they create their own wee country.
Scotland vote to remove the Royal family and become a Republic.
Rockall invite the royal family to reign over them.
Jobs a good un
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just need to win the Euros this summer and independence will pass with an 80% landslide 😂
