Scotland is run like a banana republic without the bananas

The song was the theme of the outdoor relief protests in Belfast in 1932. These were a unique example of Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland protesting together, and the song was used because it was one of the few non-sectarian songs that both communities knew. The song lent its title to a book about the depression in Belfast.

Nothing will change as a result of any of this. Sturgeon and her party I’ve created a singular body which covers everything from the political, legal and communication strategy to the entire country who in turn have adopted an “Anything but Westminster” policy where serious and damning reports are hidden or delayed, worsening statistics and hugely embarrassing financial failures are merely brushed aside or swept under the carpet.

There is no scrutinisation accepted and is instead met with a mere shrug of the shoulders in a “how dare you question me” approach. 50 times she stated she dosing know, couldn’t confirm; forgot or didn’t recollect in her obfuscation the other day. 50 times that is.

Scotland is run like a banana republic without the bananas and is allowing the government to sleep walk them into an even more parlours state. Without anyone taking a seat and thinking as to where it is going, why and revisiting the cost and erosion caused over the last 15 years under an SNP led government.

Despite asking on numerous occasions what anyone wants the answer is simply “Not Westminster”.

Doesn’t matter really. Her party will win the election although a majority is no longer such a certainty. Hopefully they don’t get a majority and the other party’s start to really scrutinise their record.

And yes Sturgeon is holding back money for businesses that was handed over by Westminster.

Pleading poverty while acting like Oliver Twist and biting the hand that feeds as it is determined to get away on its own with no other plan than to rejoin the EU.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She is not holding back money.

All the money that has been "allocated" to Scotland has not been disbursed. That is correct.

However that money has not all been delivered by WM yet. Almost 90% of that money has been disbursed within 4 weeks of receipt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely not the stuff I’ve read Mags. The money has been handed over. It’s sitting in her own account

I saw a post on Facebook yesterday along the lines of "when a footballer sets up a charity to feed hungry kids and the Prime Minister sets up a charity to decorate his official residence; that tells you everything you need to know about England just now".

I was too busy with work so not able to follow. Was there any proof at these hearings she has done anything wrong
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The same questions were asked over and over-it was more just accusations than anything evidential. Some of the committee-and on here-were screaming about corroboration before learning that it was hearsay rather than corroboration.

The standard of questioning skills from the committee was appalling though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’ll be aimed at me.

Never one to miss a wee jibe eh?

You weren’t the only one that said it though, so no, it wasn’t just aimed at you.

Not surprised to read that but I've heard about half a dozen Tories avoiding the direct question on Radio Scotland in the morning on a regular basis.

Money has been very slow to cross the border. It's no surprise that the English press might not highlight that.

So is it basically that she was put in an awful position when her friend, colleague and mentor turned out to be a bully and sexual harasser.

She maybe had a meeting or two she wouldn't have had in normal circumstances to essentially tell this friend she was sorry, there was nothing she could do and she would not be helping him.

Said friend feels betrayed has tried with no real evidence to somehow claim she created a conspiracy against him (but also for him somehow) to try and get revenge.

Is that the long and short of it?

The entire thing could have taken a couple of hours if the dumb bastirts on the committee asked questions and didn’t grandstand and make speeches dressed up as questions
The Mitchell wummin was embarrassing
Little wonder they never laid a glove on her it was a disorganise shambles
One would have thought given the time it took to get her there they would have had some kind of coordinated approach
Nope, party lines again

Nicola Sturgeon went way up in my estimation as she managed to keep her face straight when useless Murdo Fraser claimed "if I had been told that Annabel Goldie had made sexual advances to a civil servant I'm sure I would have remembered it".

Ginger, Scotland don't get the Government they vote for, which is why the SNP are a device to get us the fvck out of this Union of scvm.

Once independent we can vote for whatever party we like, and it's the Greens for me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now if she’d have said that then I don’t think there would have been half the stuff gone on.

But she didn’t. She lied and lied. The whole SG tried every which way but loose to prevent evidence, destroy evidence and frustrate the committee at every turn.

A simple “look” we’ve messed this up and apologise to the public and the complainers and I think all this would have gone away.

But this government will brook no scrutiny or questioning. Others doing likewise is not an excuse.

I’m reading they’ve taken a significant hit and the notion of an overwhelming majority at the elections along with a mandate for independence is about 50/50 now.

Do you genuinely believe any other party will get into power should independence be achieved?

I bloody don’t

Scotland will become the very definition of a one party state.
