Shall I start it off in a slightly controversial manner...
...Roos in !
Marshall & Byrne available
Have to give Roos a lot of credit for his performance on Wednesday. Windy and lots of crosses to catch. His handling was very good indeed. Still want Marshall back though!
Byrne to return surely. I would also stick with the Fozzster who was very steady but maybe Rooney might feel the need to be a bit more adventurous in the full-back department. Formation has changed so often I wouldn't be surprised to see us back to a 4-3-3 but who knows?
Marshall/Roos
Byrne Edmundson Wisdom Forsyth
Knight Shinnie
Waghorn CKR Gregory Jozwiak
Wow!
I make that 7.21pm Friday with the team news
What's Clarke done to upset you, Vidal ?

Oh yeah! I started off with a back five and then changed my mind half way through. Clarke for Edmundson. Or the back five with Gregory on the bench.

Sorry, I don't like this indecision, it scares me. What happens if you change your mind through a tonsil operation, turn the trolley 180 and start again down there?

What about Mengi, then ? MoM on Wednesday
II know, it's a tough call. Mengi was very good but unconvincing in his previous two. Edmundson is probably the safer bet and carries a bit more of an attacking threat at set pieces. You could make a case for both ahead of Wisdom but can't see the skipper being dropped.
Good 'problem' to have. Wish it applied to the forwards 😗
Probably need Beningime as midfield cover for tired legs tomorrow so might even see Mengi missing out altogether which would be tough on him.

And there, in 15 posts, lies our current situation.
Before the transfer window, we were in great form but short of a few players.
We sign half a dozen, try to give them pitch time and on doing so lose the cohesion we had started to see.
We need to play a settled team with minimal changes.
However, you do need to cover for injuries, Peeder.
I'd argue Bielik was the biggest factor behind the good form and the cohesion and his injury has been a major reason for the recent changes
Morning all...yes, it's Rowetball day...although I hear they're not as direct as they have been in the past. I wonder what reception Bennett would have got had supporters been allowed in.....
I think Peeder does have a point about changing a winning team but equally I feel the days of being able to compete with a small squad are gone. And talking of settled squads did you hear Colin Gibson interviewing Rooney on Wednesday ? He mentioned the 2013 game at Barnsley when our FB's on that day were Forsyth & Wisdom
Anyway it was nice to read that Rooney's ambition for next season is to get us promotion....quite simple really...
I note the takeover talk still rumbles on. Mel seems to have been messed about constantly by various parties for well over a year now. I feel sorry for the guy. Yes I know there's some that dont like him for various reasons but his heart (for me) has always been in the right place - and he's a fan like us....unlike those who've been linked with a take over.
Anyway I really hope we can get back to winning ways today. We almost did it on Wednesday....come on Derby
Mornin' y'all
Morning Terry
Mornin' everyone. A goal would make a nice change today.
On Rooney saying his ambition for next season is promotion, he would be sacked if said anything else. We need to be able to create chances and convert them though. Something that the current team isn't very good at.
Wisdom and Forsyth as wing backs in 2013 were always supported by Ward and Russell. I don't see any of our current wide attackers offering them the same service. Plus we had quality midfielders to pass to and a quality target man to cross to.
Interesting stat from the paper... we are 7th best team in division based on 1st half only "results" and would have 48 points. That drops to 39 points in real life which suggests we aren't fit enough and/or don't have enough talent on the bench to make a difference.

That's only a suggestion Peeder. Could suggest that we had been under the cosh for most of the game and eventually our luck ran out. When you aren't creating chances or converting them when you do, it is easy for the opposition to put the pressure on.
I think Spart's right. The first half is often tight with both teams being relatively cautious and cancelling each other out. As players start getting a bit tired the game opens up more and then the team that has better quality up front tends to prevail. Opponents can also commit more men forward safe in the knowledge that they are unlikely to get caught on the break as we have little pace with which to counter-attack. Nearly all of our wins have come from grabbing a goal, often from a set-piece, and then holding on for grim death. Let's hope for that today.
