Southgate Ball

Yes disappointing - was expecting at least 5. Job done I suppose but amissed opportunity to build up the goal difference. Having said that though it is interesting to see that at half-time Poland and Hungary are only one goal up against minnows Andorra and San Marino.
Yesterday Cyprus lost by just one goal to Croatia and Malta drew with Slovakia. The only team that is makin' bacon appropriately enough are the Danish.

"Yes disappointing - was expecting at least 5."

this is the 'problem' in a nutshell

completely unrealistic deluded arrogance

If one thing is certain this summer, it’s that Southgate WON’T find a way to play Foden, Grealish, Rashford, Sterling and Kane together.

I fully expect to see mediocre players like Lingard, Mount and Ward-Prowse starting ahead of far more capable players, in front of a back five.

Probably shouldn't try and shoehorn all of them in tbf

Get off your self-built pedestal of thinking that you are the only person who thinks that they have a valid opinion. A 2-0 win against a team ranked 62 places below you is a disappointment. As I pointed out in my OP, the so called minnows of international football have improved but that result from England won't frighten anybody.

whuts ur problem? just becuse somebody disagree with u?

y wud anybody EXPECT 2 win at least 5-0 away 2 Albania if they were not being unrealistic, deluded n arrogant?

posted on 28/3/21

Albania have some good players. Equally, they have some not so good players. Most of their good players are, however, defensive, so scoring 5 against them is unrealistic, and demonstrates a complete lack of awareness for the quality possessed by other sides.

Didn’t mind tonight. Not a fan of Southgate though, I’m still annoyed at the World Cup.

Doesn’t have to. Even Jose plays a more offensive midfield partnership. Any two of Rice, Winks, Henderson, Dier, or Phillips together is pointless and unnecessary. Especially when we have the luxury of Mount able to attack and defend really well as well. Although any box-to-box will do. Even someone like Barkley, Chamberlain etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I'm not defending Rice-Phillips I was horrified by it

"If one thing is certain this summer, it’s that Southgate WON’T find a way to play Foden, Grealish, Rashford, Sterling and Kane together."

Im questioning whether or not he should be trying to find a way to play all of these players together

Personally I would be looking for something like.

------------------Pickford
James---Stones---Maguire---Shaw
------------------Phillips
-----------Mount------Grealish
Sterling--------------------------Sancho
--------------------Kane

Which I appreciate isn't ideal, but when you have those attacking options I think you cater to them.

Central midfield is the weakest area in the squad. It’s going to cause us problems whoever the manager is really.

Yep.

People will say we should play two attacking midfielders, but I think they need to forget about that. Even Pep isn’t doing that now that Silva and Fernandinho aren’t starting.

I’m not really a fan of Southgate’s, but I don’t think you can blame him for not trying to imitate a midfield set up that only one coach, with three incredible players, can pull off.

Mount Mediocre? LOL best all round midfielder in the PL by a mile, guy has everything. Goals, assists, passing, dribbling, pressing, defending. Was only the other day he set the record for most chances created in an international game EVER (8), beating previous record of Xavi (7) and he did it in 45 minutes

I know United are full of average / crap midfielders but don’t try call Mount mediocre or tar him with the same brush as likes of Pogba and Fred

Ole baztard is quite clueless isn’t he

If you don’t watch Chelsea just say, instead of embarrassing yourself

Think he was correcting someone else who had made the list, right? It was initially The Lambeau's Leap, or something like that.

for the first time in a long while we have a wealth of young attacking talent, and players throughout the team who can actually play, instead of just running around enthusiastically.

Unfortunately we also have Gareth Southgate.

last night was fine tbh

Southgate isnt very good at all but at least we didnt see 5 at the back as well as 2 DMs. Rice and Phillips especially 2nd half both pushed on a bit more so looked a bit better.

Like already said unfortunately you cant just put on all the attacking players and expect it to be the answer.

Mediocre and mount in the same sentence. Should be an immediate ban on this site
