Most will say club which is fair enough, but I’m jaded with the money corrupt pl and cL these days, and neither holds a candle to the euros or WC in my book as an event. They have a magic the pl cannot match

I don’t think most will say club. I think in the day to day people care more about club but if it meant winning the World Cup a lot would say that

I see a lot of moans about internationals on here.....

I think national pride would come back if we went all the way in a tournament. The main reason for the lack of interest is that we are complete Shiite, as evidenced by last nights embarrassment of a performance.

World Cup for sure. CL has become a very dull product due to the protectionism of the "big clubs", I don't even watch the final these days. For me the CL should be a competition between clubs who had earned the right to compete by winning their domestic leagues. Now with the new proposals we could have a final between a club that finished 4th in their league against a "wildcard" club who finished mid table. No thanks. World Cup still has a magic that has long since died in European club competitions.

Agree with this. The CL is a badly corrupted tournament these days that often league champs don’t win.

I get more satisfaction out of Liverpool winning the coin toss than I would from England winning the World Cup.

The fact that a lot of people choose to support a club because of their success, whether consciously or not, makes this easier for some than others.

Also for a club comparable to Scotland in international football to win the CL, there would probably have to be a degree of money involved. This may dilute it a bit compared to Scotland winning the world cup with the limited resources available compared to other bigger Nations.

In international football, you can't choose who you support, and you can't buy success. This makes it more meaningful.

Unless England win the world cup, then they just cheated, again.

Club.
I’m not at all interested in Scotland and don’t even pay attention to the games now the fans have stopped booing Rangers players.
Here’s hoping when they’re allowed back in that fine tradition can continue.

Club. Pretty comfortably. But then that may be a product of me having been raised during the dark age of Leeds United. If we won the CL in 2022, I would A.) be very impressed we managed to qualify, and B.) be over the moon.

For any Scotland fan who supports a team outside the old firm... an SPL title would feel on par with Scotland winning the world cup.

World Cup every time.

The Champions League is a disgusting product (I use that word over competition) that is becoming more and more disgusting as the years go by. I barely even watch it nowadays.

You're only saying that because you don't feel confident that Dundee Utd will win the CL in the next few years. Because they're simply just not as good as the likes of Bayern. Am I right??

I think you and I both know that there's a very good reason that we haven't played Bayern recently, and that's because they're scared to play us after that memorable 1-1 draw in the Shah Alam stadium in July 1994. Everyone knows they got lucky that day to come away with a draw.

Barca too. They are petrified of you and your 100% record over them..

Some say that’s why clubs like barca and Bayern changed the CL format because of the fear of playing dundee Utd again...

Country, but only because ive seen my club lift old big ears a few times already.

As for people wanting it to go back to champions only, itll make the competition as boring as euros/wc n cl groups the few big teams playing farmers and plumbers. Surely anyone with eyes can see the top 6/7 from the big 3/4 leagues are stronger competition than 99% of the rest thus making it a much stronger competition.

It’s already really boring. It’s the same teams every year.

Disagree, watching united fail to make it out of the groups because it had germanys rank 4 team rather than some albanian farmers league winner was very entertaining.

It’s boring, no other way about it. A max of two teams form one nation should be allowed and they should not be kept apart at any stage.

It’s pretty much the same ties every year

posted on 1/4/21

I agree there shouldnt be seeds or keeping apart teams from same nations it should be 100% random throughout. But the top 4 teams from the best leagues make for far better viewing and matchups regardless.

I don’t think there should ever be two teams from the same nation in a final, so 4 teams is silly. 2 at most. That will help revise domestic cups a bit.

It’s all too samey with top 4’s.
