Travelling squad to Granada

Is Bailly still stuck in Africa with Covid? Maybe give Tuanzebe a start on Thursday, and Telles perhaps. Got to think about Spurs this weekend, they don't have a midweek fixture. Expect Granada to be tidy on the ball as all the Spanish sides are, but I think we should be able to at least rotate the players in need of a rest (if there are any) and get others in need of minutes back up to speed like Pogba.

Solskjær on Granada: "I watched the games and I have spoken to some people to get insights. They're a team full of experience. Full of character and experience which you expect from teams who have been promoted recently."

Solskjær: "Of course he [Amad] is [getting closer]. He's getting used to our standards. He did well when he played 45 minutes against Milan and we'll see him gradually start games. It might come tomorrow and it might come another game."

Solskjær: "Mason's [Greenwood] goal [against Brighton] was more poacher's instinct, he didn't head in the air like a salmon. He's been practising and there's loads of things to think about: right foot, leg foot and heading. His movement around the box."

Solskjær: "Eric [Bailly] is still in Ivory Coast, he needs a negative test before he can come back, we're waiting for that one."

Solskjær: "Anthony [Martial] has started his recovery. Bright around place. If we see him before end of season I'll be very surprised. He wants to get back as quick as possible."

Solskjær: "There's important games for us before the end of the season and the Euros. Complacency? No. Granada beating Napoli, getting through the group and then beating Molde is a sign of a team that has quality. We have set our eyes on the final."

Solskjær: "I cannot prioritise the league or Europa League. The next game is the most important one. Every time I try to explain to players why they aren't playing... all those discussions remain private."

Solskjær: "David [De Gea] has been a top keeper and is still a top keeper. I'm very conformable playing with David or Dean [Henderson] and I'm pleased that neither of them are happy to be a sub."

Are Bob Greaves and Fred Talbot in the travelling party?

Solskjær: "He'll [Elanga] be in the squad, he'll be on the bench. He was very unlucky when he got an injury about two or three months ago because he was about to move into the first-team squad then."

Solskjær: "He [Elanga] has a lot of quality, speed and he is a goalscorer. He likes to beat men and has a right foot and left foot. He has an appetite to develop and to keep learning. It's not just for the experience. He's ready to play."

Solskjær: "It's [Granada game] very big for us. We have to live by the principle that the next game is the biggest game. I'm the manager and I know that it is just the first half but it's a big game for us."

Solskjær: "We have beaten [Real] Sociedad and Milan away and have drawn against them both at home. This game can give us even more momentum."

Solskjær: "When you're a part of #mufc, there will always be players that come in and they're not just there to fill the squad. I was there as a striker."

posted on 7/4/21

Solskjær: "David [De Gea] has had ten fantastic years at #mufc. Sergio [Romero] probably played less games than he deserved. Dean [Henderson] comes in and he wants to play. It’s a healthy competition: of course it is."

Solskjær: "The goalkeeping departments are a very tight-knit group. They stay together more and form a bond. The spirit in the keeper department has been top. All of them want to play and that includes Grant, Bishop and Romero."

posted on 7/4/21

Solskjær on Rashford: "I don't pick players when we know there is a risk. There's always a risk when you step out on to the pitch, but if the physio says it's too much of a risk I would never pick him."

Solskjær: "We'll listen to what he [Rashford] says like we did on Sunday when he came off and said it was too sore."

Solskjær: "Marcus [Rashford] joined in training this morning and let's see how he reacts. His back has recovered and it's a tough one. He wants to play and wants to give his all for #mufc."

it is becoming slightly concerning how many of ole press conferences mention "we need to be careful with marcus...he may play, or may only be fit for the bench"...before he is then picked for the starting xi the next day.

guy never seems to be anywhere near being fully fit.

Ole is very vague when he talks about injuries. Hopefully he has got over his back injury and its something minor now.

I'd leave Rashford on the bench too. If we can't beat Granada over two legs without him then we may as well give up.

Don't think he's looked the same player since he returned from that injury despite him still scoring loads of goals. Imagine how much better he could be fully fit. 19 goals isnt too shabby from the left all things considered

He’s been overplayed for a long time. He’s already on 300 senior appearances for club and country. That’s a lot of football for a 23 year old.

We need to stop being so reliant on him.

Yeah he's been fairly machine like in recent years, along with Maguire and Bruno since he arrived playing almost every game in every competition.

Going to be difficult for Ole to not select him whenever he's 'available' now especially with Martial missing the rest of the season.

Hopefully Greenwood kicks on and Amad can chip in with some appearances on the right too, I can't bare to watch James every week but unless Cavani stays fit it's looking like we'll see a fair bit of him.

Granada have conceded the most goals of any team in La Liga this season. All that that tells me is they are well overdue a clean sheet. So our only hope is to sit back and try and hold out and sneak an away goal on the counter against all the odds. It worked against PSG and it worked against City. We can do it against Granada too.

Have you taken into account all the anomalous thumpings they have had, Barry? Won't give a true reflection of their defensive record.

Wasn't Granada the s9ithousery team in the Ropey League last year or two? I'm more concerned about people getting suspended.

Otherwise, please rest Rashford. It's really affecting his game

It’s amazing the kind of figures Rashy has put up this season considering his body has been facked in various ways throughout the campaign.

Is Mata travelling? He definitely needs to start. Only guy in our squad who doesn't lose possession unnecessarily
