To be fair he had to go, his time was up after the CL final, but the biggest mistake was Levy hiring this dinosaur ex cereal winner Mourinho, the longer he stays the more destruction he will do to Spurs

Nobody will ever know how backed he was. Certainly not to the level other managers expected to achieve top 4 regularly.

Levy bent over backwards to make him the manager rather than just head coach. Obviously finances are, well, Spurs, but he was certainly given the trust and freedom to do as he wanted within the constraints of the operating budget.

As you’ll see from my comments on my article, I don’t believe he was properly financially backed, but, backing a manger isn’t just to do with money - at the first sniff of trouble, Levy folded.
Imagine we’d have kept Poch, do you think we’d have done much worse than 5th and then this season? I bet the football would have been better.
Things were poor in his final few months, but he should have been given the chance to go through the pain of a rebuild IMO
Neither of us can know what would've happened. The fact is we didn't win anything during his tenure, though. We backed him with a ton of new signings the summer before he was sacked and things didn't improve. Like you say, things have a natural cycle about them.
I'm not bitter about Poch, he did a great job with us and I love him. But I do think it was the right time to move on.
Fair play to you for putting your hands up, not many people have that level of self-reflection.
As an outsider it seems like the point to be backed had gone and the whole situation seemed kind of hard to go back from there, so I can see why he was sacked and don't necessarily think it was the worst decision from that position. Just seems like Levy shouldn't have allowed things to stagnate for as long as they did upto that point.
But I don't follow you guys that closely so you'll know better.

I’m annoyed he was sacked but my overriding feeling is anger - that we appear to have ripped up the play book and appoint a manager who is the antethesis of what went before.
I’d be a lot more relaxed over what happened if we’d have brought in a manager who continued what I thought was a blueprint (energetic football engaging the ball, development of youth (just playing a young player doesn’t mean he’s developing!)).
Even if it didn’t work out, at least I could have seen what the club was trying to do

Exactly this. Jose has since gone through worse form than Poch was sacked for.
I'd still like someone to give me a good reason why he wouldn't have been able to turn it around with new players to work with, like those Jose was given in the summer.

I would disagree that he had to go. For me when he came to us in 2014 the goal was to turn us into a top four team. He overchieved and turned us into title challengers. Surely now the goals had changed, he had earnt the right to be treated almost as a new manager and given ample time and tools to meet the goals and challenges ahead.

He was treated appallingly by a certain faction of Spurs fans. Took us up a level over 5 years, from top 6 and Europa to PL and CL runners up, top 4 regulars unbeaten in last season at WHL, transitioned us from WHL via 18 months at Wembley to new WHL and even with that move and no signings made the CL final and top 4 in his last season. First sign of a bad run in half a decades management and certain fans turned on him rather than willing him to have the time he had earned.
Shameful.
And look what we’ve wound up with instead.

Yep. We were in 12th place when Poch was sacked and only 3 points off 5th. Man United were behind us and they didn't sack Ole, and they went on to finish in the top 4. We had a winnable run of games in front of us.
No way did Poch deserve sacking when he did. Just a rushed, panic-stricken decision by Levy, bereft of any sort of honour and loyalty.
Poch wanted to rebuild Jose said that our squad was good enough. Levy was inlove with Jose and believed the sweet nothings whispered by Jose. Now Jose says the players are not good enough.
Levy got what he deserved no champions league for 2 seasons and our fans getting pumished with mind numbing boring football except one two fans that get entertained by the stats and not the actual football. I suppose if you were labotomised you might be entertained by our "brand" of football.
Poch is a top man manager and he loved the club so much. You could see that in is tears when we qualified for CL final by overturning a deficit against what trolls and "experts" called one of the best sides in Europe, Ajax. If you remember him sliding down the pitch and crying!
Poch was a hero for this club - a legend.
