arsenal could easily become a stereotypical 'cup team'

they seem a lot off consistency to be a CL finishing club through the league but you never know.

in the EL theyve been in it far less than spurs due to qualifying for the CL before, yet have got further each time in it, its depressing

fair point, TOP managers are thin on the ground, well those that are available anyway

Be interesting to see IF Jose does leave who Spurs go for?

Get Simeone , and he'll kick butts and get some of our deadwoods out!

I think the focus of football has changed from how many trophies you can win, to what you're building at a club. Take Klopp at Liverpool in the first couple of seasons, didn't win anything, but everybody at the club knew there was confidence that it was building towards winning things at the elite level, which ultimately it was.

Perspective is a big thing in football these days. For example, Arteta has 2 trophies at Arsenal and he is attempting to build something there and looks to be doing that, yet there is still plenty of disgruntlement amongst Arsenal fans about it all.

He has one trophy with Arsenal.

I am not aware of anyone that actually counts the charity shield as a trophy?

Fair enough if people do but I certainly dont

No golf please, this is a football forum. You can post golf on the golf forum.

Morespurs, he would that but his style of play isn't that attractive and I like to think of Spurs (recent period excluded) as a fairly attractive team to watch?

But if he did get rid of some of the wasters and moved you forward then perhaps

I thought for years I was good at golf, as I was always winning on the PC game.
Then a mate took to play a proper round of golf, and I couldn't hit the ball to tee off

Simeone isn't that negative, like Jose with his low block. He is more like George Graham maybe?
But I'd see him as the manager to fix the "Spursy" mentality and also the cushty life certain players have in the team. Get them to work harder!

You're showing an incredible amount of naivety with this article Sandy. You cite the last 30 years when you seem to ignore the one factor which has forever changed the landscape of football since Sky first got involved roughly 28 years ago ....MONEY AND THE UCL . Ferguson had nearly five years at utd before winning the fa cup saved his job, having taken that long to build a decent team in his image. Then the ucl was born which enabled the teams involved at its birth to leverage player signings over other teams with wages and the attraction of playing at the top level that other teams couldn't compete with. Ferguson also openly admitted to using corporate tactics to facilitate this dominance by taking the best players from clubs that were building decent teams eg cole.. newcastle yorke.. villa ferdinand cantona... leeds carrick sheringham (and tried to get anderton) at spurs. This pattern has only been broken by sugar daddy clubs blackburn temporarily in the 90s, Chelsea and City though more permanently since then which meant ferguson was less able to dominate with these tactics in the same way he had previously. Arsenal like ourselves have been crippled by having to buy new stadiums which is going to mean a long term transition as we are both ran as businesses. Seriously how can anyone compete with city when they are funded by a state? Its led to football becoming completely boring at the top level FFP is a complete joke! Please don't cite leicester... we were the best team in the premier league that year. The run in was a joke any team leicester played practically pulled down their pants to 'enable the fairytale to come true' whilst we had to endure eden hazard holding the ball in the corner at stamford bridge with ten mins to go in order to stop spurs winning the game. That is embarrasing. Pochettino was the best thing that ever happened to spurs in modern times he gave us a structure a progressive identity, to achieve what he achieved in that landscape with those players was phenomenal and he was treated disgustingly. jose hase had more backing then pochettino ever had whilst fans like yourself come out with"What did he win?". Now all we hear pundits harp on about is Kane must go to Utd or City to win things.... how incredibly boring football has become.

=======================

Yes, both of which conveniently forgotten by the gutter media and trolls.
Affinity to Leicester, blindly just to deny Spurs, small minded people.

Chelsea played their game of the season in their backyard just to snatch a draw pathetically and stop us. Sad fakers

Plastic AF!

Can`t argue with any of this.

Spurs will win fack all under ENIC, they are not prepared to elevate us to compete with the financially doped clubs, and Penited have always been moneybags also.

I agree about the Leicester season, Spurs were the best team that year but once Leicester found themselves in a position to possibly win the league, the fairy tale just snow balled. All the refs then gave them the benefit of doubt etc, and we even had players from other clubs on live TV saying they did not want Spurs to win the league. Just look at the amount of penalties Vardy was given for dives in that run in and some of the lame defending by Leicesters opponents.
