Sack them.

Can we afford to let them go with everything to fight for this season?

I don't care, can you afford to whitewash over that type of behaviour

They will get fined.. Rodgers has already said they will be available for the next game.

It’s been happening loads, I remember chilwell (there’s a link here) and rudiger partying not long ago Chelsea weren’t going to sack them, what happened? Chilwell last seen scoring in champions league

No, you can’t. I guess they’ll be heavily fined. I’m not defending them by any means.

How do any of them think this type of behaviour is acceptable?
Maddison especially should know better, sadly may only be fined, not sure what more the club can do.

Woo hoo, fined in the same vein as Sunday League player getting fined a fiver!

Think the only one we missed today was Perez, based on his recent form.

Assume Hamza missing because of the rumours and not because he is fasting. If the former then he should be ashamed given that BR has promised him game time rather than leave in January.

Maddison has not dominated a game like Grealish, for example, and would probably been a sub today.

Maybe the alleged reaction of Kasper and Vardy will be more of a punishment than a fine.

Hope someone got a good smacking then

dont forget barnes

They need a hefty fine which is minimum of two weeks salary. Then they need to be spoken to in no uncertain terms reminding them of their obligations to the club.

They need to stand up and apologise in front of all their team mates.

Then we need to move on from this and fast. They need to come back in and prove themselves for the rest of the season. We need to go in to the last 3 games with a fighting chance of top 4.

Very disappointing weekend all round really.

Finishing on a slightly higher note with Spurs losing

So a bunch of young 20s lads went round to a friends house for a drink after all of them had just been given negative covid tests.

Were there other non Leicester staff there? I'll reserve judgement until the facts come out. May be a case of being no more dangerous than being at the club canteen and a massive over reaction.

If so why were they dropped from the squad by Rodgers?

Doesn't stop the Fact we'll almost certainly be outside the Top 4 by the time we play again.

I think the standing of all three of them will be damaged within the club.

Hamza, you look at and think “why bother any more?”
Maddison, these are not the actions of someone who wants to be here anymore. Maybe his head’s been turned. He might be disappointed.
Perez, shot himself in the foot with this, just as he was getting games. I say shot himself in the foot - being Perez I’d expect him to miss.

Rumour that Barnes was there as well. Disappointing but not quite as bad considering he’s injured anyway. But still could have brought Covid into the group if he hadn’t been caught.

Also rumours that Morgan was there, or that it was his house. Don’t know what to make of that.

Whatever the situation, it was serious enough to make 3 player ineligible for probably the most crucial fixture of the season.

Whatever the circumstances, for that reason alone it’s utterly unacceptable and unprofessional.

it might not suprise me if Maddison had a round of golf while the game was being played.Couldnt give a toss.

I genuinely would get Hamza, Perez and Maddison out of the club in the summer.

The most galling aspect isn't that it was just before a very important fixture (perhaps season-defining) although, it is well up there in the gall-stakes... but the fact that there is a flagrant disregard for anything the country has been trying to achieve for nigh on 4 months of enhanced lockdown measures.

Leicester/shire has been hit arguably harder than any other area in the UK in terms of COVID. It is a massive slap in the face to all the fans, local people who literally have few things to look forward to in any given day/week.

I know I, myself, do look forward to matchdays as a 2-hour respite from the grind every day of the week. Although that 2 hours is almost always just as stressful in other ways, but I look forward to it nonetheless.

The fact that BR had specifically highlighted the need to ensure the utmost vigilance, given Soyuncu unfortunately got caught by the Virus on international duty, makes this even more difficult to comprehend. I ask myself "who is advising these players?"; "what is going through their heads?" when we are so close to having restrictions lifted, the fact we have a huge game in a week's time. What could have been so important or necessary to celebrate, which meant all COVID rules HAD TO BE broken?

I've not seen my immediate family for half a year? No doubt others in the LCFC JA606 group have been similarly affected. There are so many layers to this and so many points of view, but I don't think anyone can justify this behaviour (although I see one or two are reserving judgment... if that's how you feel, fair enough, but it doesn't wash for me).

The fact that Maddison compounded it by then going out again in public to play golf, just smacks of a complete lack of emotional intelligence (or just intelligence) and really does speak volumes. If ever there was a two fingers up to the club, players, manager, fans, this was it. He has all but ruined any remote prospects of getting into England's squad this summer.

I liked the tone BR set on less mainstream interview networks where he was asked if he had any hesitation to drop the players - "only if you're soft", he said. I hope BR has re-read the riot act yesterday and for anyone not in east London, he does it again this morning.

As for the rest of the season, this isn't a full doom and gloom parade, but I genuinely cannot see us achieving top 4 (again). I am half-expecting us to lose at Wembley on Sunday too, which would be beyond disappointing. I truly hope I am proved wrong, but I don't think these players deserve to feature again this season and I would not be sad to see them omitted going forward (with BR suggesting they would be in contention). Well, they can be in contention and then BR can decide not to play them. If we lose out, we lose out. I'd prefer running that risk than playing them.

That may be a controversial view, but this forum is all about putting your view out, controversial or otherwise.

Anyway - time to start work! Just as well I love what I do too! Have a good week all.

Well said YWF.

What about Barnes though if he was there?

posted on 12/4/21

Barnes is by far the biggest dilemma here. He has a promising future, he's arguably been one of our best performers this season and he's not your typical trouble-maker type player. Head down, work hard, footballing father to keep on the straight and narrow (as HB has intimated himself in interviews since becoming a first team regular).

He had less to lose, as he's not playing at the moment. Arguably, his absence from the training bubble would not be felt as keenly as Maddison and/or Perez.

It's not about making an exception for HB, but perhaps asking him whether he wants to still be here next season? It is clear Maddison and Hamza do not want to be here. Perez.. no idea, especially now that he's been playing in his favoured role (and playing OK). HB - BR can offer the olive branch there potentially and say his actions were unacceptable and it shows a lack of respect for LCFC. Is that really you, or do you want to do something about it.

I would be looking to get top dollar for Maddison already and looking to see what I could get in as a high-profile replacement with quality. He's also a bit injury-prone with this hip issue, so it may be a blessing.

I think the biggest problem in all this is that it breaks any illusion in the camp that players can look across at their teammates and feel they have each other's backs. No ambition. No professional pride. No respect for their colleagues or manager. Nor do I think they'll have learned anything from this, because it was absolutely, blatantly obvious it was wrong from start to end. This wasn't a player giving in to a feeling that they hadn't seen a family member in ages and making a snap decision to join some sort of reunion. This was a jolly. And then, if reports are to be believed, they behaved like 15-year-old kids at a rave who'd just been caught by their parents.

Choudhury doesn't seem to realise that if you're not the best player then you have to make up for it in professionalism and attitude. He'll be off to the Championship now. Maddison, it's just one thing after another. He gets chance after chance and spits it back in people's faces. Perez, I just don't care anymore. Whatever.

As for Barnes, he's being offered the benefit of the doubt, partly through youth and partly because he wasn't directly influencing the West Ham match with his actions. He should consider himself damn lucky at that and be extricated from the influence of Madderz as quickly as possible.

posted on 12/4/21

As for Morgan... he can probably say goodbye to any influence he has/had over the squad and his aspirations of a long-term future in the hierarchy. He can wherever he wants, but it should not be at LCFC.

Agree Dunge - let's try and protect Barnes now, but make him super-aware that this is a proper warning and future conduct (even a toenail out of line) will not be tolerated. It's not about being autocratic or dictatorial, it is setting a fundamental standard at the club and a breach like this cannot go without consequences, given the wider context.

I still can't work out whether Morgan was there or whether that's a rumour that's got out of hand. If he was then, frankly, we should want Schmeichel to be made new club captain by the end of today.

I actually hope the police get involved, to impress upon them that this is not an insignificant incident. I can't help but think what's happened so far will not get them to grow up or take responsibility for the incident, that they'll just brush it off with a giggle and regret getting caught more than doing the deed. If they get a knock on the door and slapped with a £10k fine each, they might actually gain some understanding of why all this matters and what the club is trying to protect everyone from.
